What have you done to your ride lately?

Not at the truck now. I’m going to work tomorrow so it might be 14 days until I can work on it again. Unless I can figure something out.

It was an unused threaded hole on the block, and isn’t the 3.4 an iron block? That is why I came up with the hypothesis that it was rusted out.

Grade 8.8 then. It’s the correct bolt. M10 x 1.25 x 130 as prescribed by the instruction manual

you need to pick up one of those small snake usb cameras, they cost about $15, they can hook to a phone or tablet for viewing, I have one and found it to be very useful, currently it is lost in my lack organization, but when I find it again I’m going to add it in tool box drawer with the testing tools, I may have to order another one, it’s possible I left it in an engine bay- - bad mechanic

I’ve got a wifi camera like that. It’s extremely handy for when my sockets fall off the end of the extensions and vanish

not to mention, if on rocks and one gets high centered on it.. at that spot.. you are fucked. It would just cradle it.

I don't see how it would be any different or worse that stock?

Heat is the only thing worse than stock IMHO. If you have an automatic it's worse. One of the reasons I always get the tow package so I get the remote tranny cooler on my Yota and my Ford Expoloders so my transmissions live longer even though I never tow. In our sandy/muddy/snowy conditions autos can overheat very quickly w/o you even knowing

Heat is the #1 killer The Best Ways to Destroy Your Transmission - Mister Transmission

I do #5 all the time so avoid #1 as much as possible lol

Looking for stuff to do around the house so I cleaned up the garage a little and while I was at it I cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body on the 4runner. Was not too dirty. Also realized I have driven the 4runner about 2000 miles since Christmas.

Gaskets finally showed up yesterday. Got the VB reassembled this morning. I'm stuck at work until 5pm so wont be able to get it back in the truck until tomorrow. Need to install the secondary cooler and the washer fluid reservoir as well.

The "skid plate" fell off my junky ass honda on the way home from work this evening. I need a fucking car lift to work on thus thing. Too low to the ground. Even with ramps. I'll fuck with it some other time. The car is about to sit for a few weeks anyway.

Started doing a 5 tire rotation and it turned into more. Cleaned the inside of each wheel and tire, scrubbed the wheel wells very good, removed some pieces from the tire gate to wire brush and repaint some spots rusting where there is contact, and finally wire brushed my Hi Lift and repainted it.

First test drive seemed like it was low on fluid. I added some more. Waiting for it to settle out of the dipstick tube (the only way to fill it) before I get another reading and see how it does.

Today I drilled the block and used a helicoil to fix the threads for my dynamic tensioner. Lucky for me, I was able to get it done without removing the radiator. That was a little intimidating at first, but this evening I got everything finished under the hood and took it for a spin around the block. I limited myself to half throttle to help break in the supercharger itself, and to protect the transmission since I haven’t installed the TransGo kit yet.

Now I have to button up the interior and figure out how to work the boost gauge and tackle the transmission kit.

I’ve never done a helicoil before, so this was nerve racking for me. I was so relieved when it took the torque spec no problem! It was so nice to hear this thing start up and run!!

X2.

Same here with install - Ive only ever installed one and it was nerve racking and it wasn't nearly as important as your bolt is (exhaust manifold)
