Got the sliders cut off the truck and getting all the primer and rust off of them to get a fresh coat of paint on them. There were also a few bare spots where the legs weld to the main tube that we couldn't get welded because of the pinch weld on the body being in the way. So I'm going to fill those in. You can tell waters even getting through and rusting the inside of the legs. A quick pass with the ID grinder took care of that though. Just need to find some 2"x.120" DOM tubing. Worst case I can order it from Ruffatuff for $12 a foot + shipping. View attachment 23602

Last time I needed some for something I couldn't find it local. I'm sure it's available somewhere in Dallas but I dont get up there often. But I just looked again and its $9 a foot, not $12. Not sure where I came up with $12. I need about 3 feet.

Got both sliders cleaned up and ran out of self etching primer. I'll pick some more up tomorrow on the way to work. Also got my bumper pulled off to trim off some material for the front skid plate to fit. Took the opportunity while it was off to weld up the backside of the shackle mounts. I have no idea why they weren't welded already. Oversight on my part. Luckily I haven't ever needed them in a bind. Just need to hit it with a new coat of paint and it will be ready to go on as well as the skid plate. Should have it buttoned up tomorrow night. I'll call around this week to see if I can find some 2" DOM somewhere local.

Are you going to weld on sleeves to make the removable or just welding them back on? When I had mine I alway wished I'd made the removable.

That does sound like a good idea. Make the sleeve long enough to put two grade 8 cross bolts in it so the sliders can be removed as needed for work or cleanup.

Shocks and Coilovers arrived today. It will be nice to have adjustable coilovers finally. And they're completely rebuildable so that will be nice too. Install on Tuesday!

Me too. I was worried about the springs being 550lbs because it seemed low compared to the 600-650lbs springs offered on other setups. But after some digging, it turns out the OME 880d and 881s I've been running on the truck so far are only 500lbs spring rate. So these ought to be good to go.

I wish I had a welder and the experience to remove and re-weld mine on. I'm planning on stripping as much off the truck as I can with them on, putting plastic over the body and repainting mine.

Just use POR15 and a brush and small roller, no prep needed to protect the rest of the truck... and POR15 will outlast any spray paint that you can buy.

OMEs are off and Toytecs are on. Much firmer ride and everything feels a lot tighter. Huge improvement over the worm out OMEs. Sits about 1" higher in the front but still has a slight rake to it. Going to give them 1000 miles or so to break in and then I'll adjust them up. I'll grab some pics later. I got off of my 16th night shift in a row at 5am this morning and havent slept yet. Next up is getting the flares back on. The new clips should be here sometime this week and I nees to go to the dealership tomorrow to order the rubber backing piece for one of them. Maybe I'll put my skids on sometime this week too.

Got my money/miles worth @ 78k now. They started squeeling on my way home from the blueberry patch. Boy do I love rear disc brakes...... took longer to jack it up and take the wheels off then swap pads and shim plates out.

Bought them 2 years ago thinking they might be going but they had plenty of meat so I let them go till the banshee started screaming at me today

So I may have had to drive in town a little bit lately. The stupid bastards on the roads after all this is amazing. In a town of 10,000 people we managed to have three multi car wrecks in a single day.

I can only imagine what that did to traffic. I have been in it when there is a vehicle on the shoulder of 377 in downtown with a flat tire. You would have thought the entire road both ways was barricaded.
