Best way to troubleshoot blown fuse is to replace with a lightbulb and hand trace the circuits lifting leads/connectors starting closest to the fuse and working out.

Interesting. I will look into this. I've never had to troubleshoot a fuse before.

An incandescent bulb is cheap and easy, but there are fancier ways to skin a cat. I've not used this but have read folks that have with good success

here's the idea of the light to troubleshoot

Imo solder connections blow.... literally.

Summer heat + vibrations = zap I bet.

Got no issues tinning before crimping but solder alone always gave me issues until I stopped doing it. Now I only rely on mechanical means of attachment.

I have had good success when I put shrink tubing w/ water proofing over the soldered area and at least 1/2" more on each side. I guess the shrink tubing counts as a second/ mechanical means in that scenario.

The reason solder connections fail is either bad prep or exposure to the elements causing corrosion which weakens the connection and/or causes high resistance. My battery connections and connections to winch have all been soldered and heat shrunk for 10 years with no issues.

Replaced the passenger inside door handle on the Tacoma. Old was cracked into 3 pieces.

Your truck moves less than mine lol
Cant fatigue a joint that's never under load/used.

I'll stick with aviation/maritime/fleet grade methods.

moving has nothing to do with the joints failing. If you solder the wires right the connection will be stronger than the wire by itself.

The 11- 14's were recalled with steering issues, guess they put a deffective or some old inventory in mine, new EPAS (steering rack), outer ball joints and then alignment.

Got some goodies for the Tacoma today. While the door panel is off I will also install some sound deadening. The truck only has door speakers.

A set of components in the kick panels, 6.5 or 8 in the door... you can squeeze a sub behind the seats.. or a center console sub. You can do this.
