What have you done to your ride lately?

Damn son, if your trailer is a good trailer and loaded correctly, you don't need all that jazz. I typically use a sawzall blade or can opener to eliminate any slop within the receiver hitch itself. lol $1 in recycled materials.

trailer is good, but needed a new hitch anyhow because my drop hitch for the ford was only rated to 10k, so to get one rated in bumper pull for my set up was going to be expensive anyway, why not go one step further :p. Read great things about gen-Y hitches, if anything I bet my trailer rides smoother than my truck so it’ll help smooth out the ride. you have to remember I’m driving a 20 year old diesel on leaf springs lol.

it also has an attachment for a pintle hook and a bolt on 1-7/8” ball, so this will hopefully be the last hitch I’ll ever need to buy in my lifetime.

You are the only thing stopping you from putting Kings on that Diesel ;)

Replaced the low beam and fog lights on my DD with some LEDs.

Waiting on these to come in for the high beams/DRL. I realized that Honda started using this setup and I have a DRL/high beam combo where the ECU supplies reduced voltage to the high beam light in the day time so regular 9005 bulb won't work.

Parts list for an upcoming wrench weekend -

1) diff fluids F/R
2) transfer case fluid
3) driver side CV replacement

Maybe... just maybe check the body mounts and see how much of a pain they will be to replace.

So the Ford has been losing coolant for the last couple of months. Not going in the oil and it’s not leaking out. After talking to several people it seems like the consensus is that it’s getting into the turbo and being blown out the exhaust. So this POS is getting traded in soon. Hopefully this week before I go back to work on Friday. I gave Ford a chance but 9 months and I’ve had a catalytic converter, torque converter, and (more than likely) turbo(s) go bad. I know I bought it used but for a one owner truck that was serviced by the dealership every 6k miles for the first 82k miles of its life, it seems like all that shit shouldn’t have gone wrong by 90k. Had more issues with this truck in 9 months than I’ve had with all my other vehicles combined in the last 15 years and this is one of the lowest mileage ones I’ve had.

What were you thinking of replacing it with?

I'm probably gonna part with mine too, no issues, just need 2 more cars/trucks for the boys. I rather keep the Tacoma with less sensors/electronics/emissions etc. Plus I have the farm truck, and my Fred is too nice for a 1st truck for a teenager, so it probably needs to go.

Honestly have no idea. Not much on the market I’m willing to pay for at the moment.

Not a single thing I am willing to pay for what they are asking. My buddy can get me the X-plan for Ferd vehicles and I looked at a 2023 250 Platinum.. nope.. even with that pricing it was still too much. Like $90k+ for what I spec'd out.

I was looking last night, seems to be more used cars/suvs on the market now, trying to stay around $10k for a first car on the boys. Requirements 1 owner, sub 150kmilage, non cvt, ~ $10k, Honda, Toyota, mazda, maybe Nissan.

I would really like to keep my POS until March or April if possible. I’m hoping it’s not the turbos but I just can’t find any signs that it’s anything else. I’m going to do some more looking this afternoon. I take the test for my promotion in March and at that point I can actually justify buying what I want instead of settling for something just to get rid of the Ford.

Damn, did the prior owner race that truck or what? Transmission issues, now turbos, dang.

Last year I did replace the TB, truck was losing power and doing weird crap. I was happy that it was a cheap $80 fix and about 1 hour wrenching to fix the problems I had. A lot of sensors /computer sync with Fords TB's.

Idk what he did with it. He had it serviced by the dealership every 6k miles from brand new so I thought it was a pretty safe buy. Guess not.

ignorant question, but how does antifreeze get into the turbo? I'm pretty sure the turbos have an oil line, but other than that it is just the intake and exhaust ports, right?

Well I'll be....looks to be a thing.

Good luck finding an 8 year old.
