Of course I am trying to do some repairs on the Tacoma and I cannot find my 22mm O2 sensor socket. I texted my Dad who had it last and he loaned it to a neighbor who is in prison again now. So Amazon it is.

The vapor canistor purge solenoid was a stupid easy install. It was may 10 minutes to include lifting and closing the hood.

New O2 sensors installed in minutes with the right tools. I went for a test drive towards the gas station 3 miles away and lost all engine power. No check engine light. No sputtering. Just dead. The fuel gauge said 1/3rd of a tank with 388 miles on this tank. I asked the sammich maker to come get me with a fuel can. Fast foward a little and the Tacoma started right up. I filled the tank up at the gas station and the fuel gauge showed a full tank.

So the O2 sensors are done. Now the fuel gauge needs to be replaced and will do the pump while in there. I cannot complain for a 2006 Tacoma with almost 400k miles. I am glad I found the issue today and she did not find it next week while I am gone.

Had a tire with a random leak on it on my S60. Took it in and it's not repairable. Back two tires are almost needing to be replaced so four new tires later and I got the car back yesterday afternoon. I drove it home on a regular road and managed to pick up a staple which put a hole in the tire and the last couple of blocks driving it home shredded the inside of the tire. Discount is replacing that tire at no cost to me today.

Discount also managed to lose a lug nut so they gave me four free wheel locks to replace that one lug nut (they tried to say I brought the car in missing one lug nut). I'm also pretty certain they scratched the inside of two of my rims but I didn't take pics of each wheel before turning the car over to them. I'm going to be taking pics of each tire & rim now before Discount works on my vehicles again.

Also got to find out my alternator on the Tacoma took a shit as well so I got that on order. It's another mechman 240A alternator since my last one made it 10 years.

So came outside on Friday and saw I had another flat tire. I had another nail on the same rim as the past two. So that's three flat tires on the SAME rim in one week.

Little maintenance session on the DD. The valve cover gasket was leaking a bit on the exhaust side for some time now

engine looks clean for 225k miles of using mobile 1

all buttoned up, I also took the time while I had the cover off to adjust the valve lash, only a few valves were just slight out of spec and required adjustment.

I also replaced the VTC spring with a stiffer one while I was in there.

I replaced the timing chain tensioner due to an ongoing issue with cold start chain rattle, there was a TSB with an upgraded part number I installed to hopefully fix the issue long term.

Replaced the air filter as well, and of course changed the oil out while I was in there, should be good on maintenance for a little bit now for the Honda.

Got both tie rod ends replaced today. Glad I took the advice of @tx_shooter and did both sides. I thought only 1 side was bad, but they were both puking grease.

Those are like brakes or ball joints or wheel bearings, always do both sides regardless.

Always something. Busted a transaxle seal on this old guy but at least the parts are cheap. I had never serviced the gear oil and it looked brand new as I drained the rest of it out.

Not catching any breaks with this Tacoma lately. In fairness I cannot remember or find in my Amazon purchase history when I changed them last time; so probably over 150k miles.

I am going to replace all the plugs soon as they get delivered. Tonight was just the failing plug after 150k miles I think.

Finished swapping the plugs this weekend. The rest were pretty crusty but holding on. I decided to hit the big refresh button and bought the fluids to change the rear diff as well.

Just completed the oil change and diff fluid change at 376k miles on the '06 Tacoma. Damn that rear diff fluid smelled horrible. Thankfully there was enough breeze the smell did not stay bunched up under the truck with me; pretty sure it got the neighbor's yard too. Now all the fluids and maintenance is back to correct.

More proof that maintenance is a good thing for the entire vehicle. The Sammich maker is commuting to work almost 45 miles one way in the Tacoma; only a few miles past her college campus. The Tacoma is now getting 19mpg vs 17.5 or 18mpg like before. It is not enough to keep it; but it is a nice little bump.

Had all of the cooling lines replaced on the S60. They were all brittle and cracking. Also had the 130k service done to it as well.

4Runner decided today was the day for a new battery. Thankfully we were at home so it was an easy task. @tex recommended the Vato Zone deal which worked out $50 cheaper than OReallys. I cannot complain much since that battery lasted 4 years.

Seems the battery bug has bit me as well. The interstate batteries in my F350 took a shit, replaced them with group 65 everstart maxx from wally world. The interstates lasted just 7 years which isn't bad but they are $100 more for each battery so I will gamble with the walmart ones. I've had an everstart in my honda for 3 years now with no issues.

The little agm battery in my kawasaki died too, picked up a new one online through walmart, a brand called Might Max, seems those batteries are small and don't last long at all, good thing is they are cheap...the might max was only $25. I also bought an LED headlight to replace the original incandescent headlamp, hopefully that will be less strain on the battery and stator. The amount of brightness is definitely much better than the original lamp.
