Cut your way out of a tent one time and you are labeled it for life. :)

lol

I started to lock my tent with a luggage lock after a lot lizard tried to crawl in for a ride one night. I then got used to locking it at night. Well one drunken night I forgot the combo and almost didn't make it out. Starting to think they need to put pee holes in tents and hammocks for the people who like to stay hydrated. Seems to be a common problem. Other than that my zippers working A-OK. I think it may have come off track 2-3 times, but I always got it back on and never gave me any issues. The older stuffs always better it seems.

Recommend me a tent that doesnt suck. I want it to last for years (not once). Needs to be tall enough to stand up in and fit two full size air mattresses (May switch to cots this year). Bonus points for one that doesnt take an hour to put up and that doesnt cost $500.

I dont think ill have time to rig up a crawler hauler this season. Still too much to do on the squirrel.
Eureka copper canyon 4 or 6. I have the 4 and it's big enough for 3 adults to sleep with plenty of room. Plus I am 6'3" and can stand up in it.

You are doing it wrong if you are camping where a lot lizard can try to climb into your tent.

We have used a 8 person coleman instant tent for the last 3 years or so. I have seen them on amazon for about $200. The 8 person has a room divider and a door on either side and they have more than enough room for 2 queen size air mattresses.

The only issue I have had with it are trying to get in back in the bag, its a big tent even when collapsed. I wish we could get the Australian versions here, those have awnings.

Not a real lot lizard. One of my friends moms tried to climb in when we were staying a night at her campground on a road trip.

Lets hear your space savings camping hacks. I have an Eno hammock and a Sno Peak backpacking burner. I am thinking about ideas to cut back on stuff to put in a cooler. Whiskey instead of beer is a huge space saver so any other ideas to eliminate things in a cooler? Any other ideas to cut back on crap you take camping?
My main goal is to be able to pack a few nights worth in a kayak and to save space and become more efficient when in the 4runner.

Im trying to get my wife to keep some of these little bottles around. They would be easier to pack than a bottle of cooking oil.

That stuff packs up small. Still more cooking stuff than I want to take camping.

When it's just me all I take is a plate, silverware and a small Dutch oven. The lid can double as a griddle for bacon, eggs and pancakes.

I dont live in Austin so I am no hippie. I guess I should have asked @Silverback the question directly since he lives there.

Not a hippie either.. I'll just say they have no sense of reality. I stay away from Austin proper as much as possible. This place used to be very cool about 5-10 years ago. Now... not so much.. unless you are a pussy.. sorry hipster. I told the wife about a week ago I was cool to move if she finds a job she wants. Of course my moving bill for the garage will be more than the moving bill for the house. :)

I really think I can make due with a pot to boil water and some foil for pouch meals for dinner.

Looks like a well loved camp set! Also a good reason to order some Blue Apron preset meals. :)
