My most recent trip was to a cabin last weekend. Unloaded my car in 10 minutes - then sat on my rear for 4 days strait lol

Little kayaking and hiking, but primarily just sat and watched nature and tended to my redneck tv.

Wondered where you have been.

One of my NJ republican buddy's was crying about how horrible NJ is on fakebook tonight. I told him if you can't beat them join them. Traded in my guns for hula hoops and rainbow stickers. Traded truck in for lesbo ride. Now I finally belong in my blue state lol

My winter set up from our last snow storm camp trip. Could never find a god 4 season tent that actually worked and was comfortable/safe in all conditions. So long as I can find some trees I'm good in this from -5 to 100+ by swapping out under-quilts & top-quilts.

Keeps your back strait. Can also do some slight side sleeping if thats your thing. It's a XL size for up to 7' tall people.

That was a great trip. We were in snow and had freezing temps in our little valley around High Point, NJ meanwhile back home it was 70*. We were on a peninsula with rivers on both sides of us.

Ok, with summer approaching I've been looking at Kayaks (fishing and Rec) and came across PACKRAFTS! does anybody have experience with pack rafts? Advice on choosing one verse the other(kayak v Packraft)? Seems pack rafts can be more expensive but I think they gain value in how portable/store-able they are.

I wouldn't want to go fishing from an inflatable boat. I can just see a fish hook snagging the hull somehow.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Saw an inflatable kayak on the lake last weekend. F that. It did not look stable and the waves made it move all sorts of weird on the water.

I do recall that one TV series about the 3 teams of guys in Alaska and they had x number of hours to do each leg of this "race". Anyhow, they had those pack rafts. I don't seem to recall any of them having issues with them though.

I have zero experience in them, but I would not consider them a viable source of transportation for any slow moving stream or lake if your trying to go more than a mile. They simply have a horrible hull design for flat water if your trying to go distances. I like traveling in my kayaks so I'd never entertain buying one.

Not sure of your local conditions, but you can get a $300 perception 9' yak that will last a lifetime. I can fit three on top of my Subaru and more on my Tacoma. Dicks has 30% off right now.

Didn't they pop one and the guy almost died? I remember one of the guys getting hypothermia or something.

I had my yaks out breaking ice this winter. Was pretty cool. Luckily I stayed above the water.

I barley paid any attention to it the first time I watched it - I'm good lol

Mauzer - you want to see them in action those guys put them through their paces & pretty sure sunk one. For hiking long distances those would be my choice for my backpack. For portages less than a mile - Ill stick to my yaks. All of mine are less than 50lbs so not a deal breaker to throw them overhead and do some walking.

Thanks @Oswego sometimes I get excited about new gear and don't think it through. I will continue my search for a Kayak (until my wife lets me pull the trigger on a Flycraft)
