You have camped with me.. I don't do small. Breakfast is huge.. lunch is beer.. dinner is meat.. lots of meat. No homo.
I really liked putting eggs, sausage or bacon, and cheese in a zip lock bag to boil in water for breakfast tacos. then use the water for my coffee. Super easy, no mess and tasty. Then the tortillas can be used for fajitas at dinner.

My sandwich maker usually does all the prep work ahead of time. She cracks all the eggs and puts them into shake containers; less mess and easy to dispense. All the bacon and sausage we used was precooked and then kept cold until time to be used. It made for pretty easy cooking at Jambo and Big Bend.

My Sammy maker is responsible for all food and prep. I like it that way. :)

I really think I can make due with a pot to boil water and some foil for pouch meals for dinner.

My gear set up seems to be similar to what you're looking for. I can fit all my winter gear into a pack weighing less than 30# and I'm good for a week off grid. That 30# includes absolutely everything but water and booze. For water I have filters if need be and I'm a days walk to a source over here. You might have less ability to gather clean water. Ill provide some good food and methods to cook it when I have some time. My favorite meals are from packitgourmet and they are located in your town. Stuffs not cheap, but it doesn't taste like cheap crappy dehydrated meals either so you get what you pay for Packit Gourmet

Last years cook set up I had. They key for me was/is nesting everything within each other and keeping it simple stupied. Titanium windscreen not in the pic goes inside the pot. next is the coffee cup. inside coffee cup is the stove. inside the stove is the utensils. next to the utensils I fit a 2oz bottle that's not in the pic for the methanol. I sleep with this bottle in my hammock if it's below freezing - helps fire up easier.

(I've since stopped using that pot as my go to because 900ml is way too much water for what I cook and the pot is HUGE)

Stove:
Fancy Feast Cat Food stove w titanium pot stand. Stove fits inside my coffee cup. Been using it for a couple years and it's the best methanol stove Ive ever used. Literally nothing can break of go wrong with it besides crushing it.

Windscreen:
Titanium. Aluminum will melt over time as Ive found out lol

Fuel:
Heat brand methanol (available at any/all car related supply stores)

Coffee cup:
Snow peak insulated titanium 450ml w/lid

Utensils:
Toaks titanium fold-able

Pot pictured (not what I currently use):
Trek 900ml
Titanium lid from 4 dog stove works
Added titanium bailing handle from 4 dog stove works

Pot Tips:
*Avoid aluminum cook wear. Many people tell you it's great, but I'd rather be safe then sorry. I changed over to all Titanium cook wear about 2 years ago. I previously used all aluminum. Titanium is the least reactive metal to humans that's known of. No leaching issues like with aluminum and acidic foods. Same time I changed my camp cook wear over I trashed my home pots/pans and replaced that all with stainless and cast iron. The only aluminum cook wear I have left is my Moka maker and I don't care if that kills me because it's worth it

*make your own insulating koozies for steep cooking in the pots out of reflectix and HVAC tape. Put tape inside and outside to stop the pot from burning the plastic.

*Get a pot with a good lid and good bail handle. If I ever run out of methanol or just too lazy to fire up the mini stove I just hang it over the fire or put it directly on the coals of the fire. I like the bail handle because it gives you added options. Ill never get another camping pot that doesn't have one.

*Brands... Ive had Toaks, Trek, Imusa, Evernew, and a few I can't remember that sucked. My favorite and the pot I pack with me every time now is the Toaks 750ml w/bail handle. It's not the lightest of them, but that's why I like it. Much thicker and heavy duty then most + everything still stacks inside (except my fuel). Ive reduced the diameter of my cook kit significantly. Fuel I just keep in my cook kit bag the pot stores in. With the smaller pot it now fits in my pack's outside water bottle holder, a huge plus for added room in my pack.

My old Imusa aluminum set up w fosters beer can cup. If it wasn't for the aluminum and lack of bail handle I'd still be rocking it.

Good luck on the booze. I drink beer so that's always an issue for mde. I did just recently grab a 8oz flask for some vodka but I fear that changeover. Good part about minimizing the rest of my gear is I can still fit a 30pk in my kayak + all my camping gear.

I have a buddy who moved to Colorado and got into lightweight backpacking. He is into lightweight camping. IIRC his pack is under 15 pounds including tent, stove, food and sleeping bag. He sent me the link to his supplier and the shit was retarded $$.

I was checking out the link for that food you posted and some of their stuff looked good.
My Snowpeak Gigapower stove should serve me well. I do need to get a new pot since the one I have is looking kind of rough and it cant be hung over a fire, which is a good idea.
For a cup I have my 30 ounce RTIC mug that I can brew my coffee in with hot water and coffee bags. I have a CRKT eating utensil as well.
I will try out some of those meals to make sure I am not out in the woods with terrible food. If I can reduce the food in the cooler to just a few things and have a few strong beers I could even reduce my cooler size to a soft Yeti or Rtic 20 quart.

Mountain house has the best dehydrated egg meals IMO. Stay away from Packitgourmets eggs - they suck.

If your looking to find out if any of the meals from packit are better than others shoot me a PM. I've tried just about all of them at this point.

Also many of their offerings that they resell and don't produce there can be found elsewhere for much cheaper (single serve olive oil/etc).

All depends on what you buy and from who. I shop around and try to only buy when things are on sale and keep my stuff simple. My current complete cook set up costs is less than $150 and some people have more than that into their stove alone. Seems like a ton of $$$ but the items should last a lifetime if taken care of.

Put it this way... I spend far less now than I did before when I was carting around a 60,000btu camp chef two burner stove + cast iron griddles, coolers full of food, ez ups, tents, cots, multiple coolers, and all the other car camping crap I thought I needed to have a good time. It's very freeing being ale to pack or unpack within 20 minutes now. Before it would take me a day to pack and a day to unpack and clean. Screw all that. "KISS" now baby.

Im really just looking at those meals for dinners. I either do oatmeal or breakfast tacos in the morning. Both are easy that I have efficient ways to make them.
3 or so ounces of whiskey at night by the fire will also help not having to get up and pee.

You can't beat instant breakfasts. I have cream of wheat, outmeal, and grits. Bought 50packs of each to save some $$. Also helped me during my liquid diet the past few months of getting my teeth fixed up lol

WARNING - I am a dick and this story will confirm it once again

I have a great backpacking story. I was at a party and a friend of a friend was saying he wanted to go backpacking. I told him I'd love to go. I asked him what level he wanted to trek. He said he was good with anything and essentially he was an seasoned guy. I picked out a 13 mile trail to do in about a 24 hour period. I offered to give him equipment and he said he had that covered.

He showed up with a heavy pack and asked him if he wanted to lighten it. He said no - he was good - I sensed he had something to prove at that time. So we left.

The first part of the trail is a BITCH - going up a pretty decent grade with no shade and it was hot and about 6,000 ft altitude. The trail disappears at times and one part of the trail collapsed and we needed to grab roots to try to not slide down.

We finally got to camp just before sundown and he was WIPED out. I told him that I was very proud - I know he felt he was a bit over his head at that time. I pulled out a Finisher Medal for the LA Marathon and gave it to him as a medal for today's accomplishment. He was proud.

He set up what seemed to be a 3 man tent.

We had a good dinner and we cooked it on his home-made stove - It was nice.

I was ultra light so I just made a leaf bed and slept in my layers with the outer layer a Goretex shell and pants.

The next day I offered to carry some of his stuff but once again he wanted to 'do it.'

I had an appointment the next day and he knew that me being able to leave the parking lot by noon was a must for us to go. With that in mind, we had to hump it!!! He broke down during our final push but I think it was what he wanted/needed.

Fast forward about 5 years. I went camping with the same friend that introduced us and WOW - he thought I was a backpacking god - I am not. I like backpacking but certainly not a god. The experience of going with me put him on a mission to be a great ultralight backpacker. He now reviews ultra light stuff and is sponsored by a few companies. I will try to find some of his videos. I am very proud of being part of his upbringing in backpacking... Now that said, you may think I was an asshole but he thanked me for getting his head straight. I was only taking him on the trip he said he wanted to go on. :)
