I called Smittybilt about that trailer.. idiots. They have one of those phone systems "press 1 for sales.. 2 for tech support.. etc". So I press 1... lady answers the phone.. it was like she was answering her cell phone. "Hello"... WTF.. Ok.. So I tell her I want some information on the Scout trailer... she tranfers me back to the automated menu.. like I should magically know what button to press. So I called up Quadratec. Only on hold for maybe a minute.. guy answers the phone and I ask him about it and when its available since its on their site so sale NOW. Guy was like "Yeah I really don't know.. I called Smittybilt this morning for someone else and they didn't answer the phone... so I'm gonna guess and say 4-6 weeks out". I had the impression the guy gave ZERO FUCKS about his job.. LOL I give him credit he wasn't a dick but you could just tell. I think he was more pissed off at Smittybilt than anything.

On hold with Smittybilt for the past 7 minutes... the hold music is SHIT! It varies in volume to the point it hurts your ears... not to mention the crackle and popping of the recording. I just sent them an email with the following comment.

"You should call your 1-888 number and listen to your music while waiting for tech support... its HORRIBLE! Its just that it goes up and down in volume to the point its painful to listen to. Someone really needs to fix that because as long as I've been on hold its worth it to your customers."

Alright... talked to a guy at Smittybilt, nice guy... he said they are taking orders but that all have been sold so far. Next shipment is in 2-3 weeks. I asked him for a brochure or something that had the specs of it.. dimensions, etc. He said he didn't have one but would look around for one and sent it to me. He also said they are doing a video shoot for it now and to expect to see it soon. So ok.. not exactly what I wanted to hear but its better than nothing.

Who are the idiots buying these up without any specs or data? LMAO... I liked the 4x4 scene a whole lot better before it got filled up with posers. My guess is most of those trailers that are sold sight unseen with zero data will never see dirt.

They will see dirt from that parking lot at off road shows, paved camping spots at state parks, and the occasional trip to get new tires.

Well hopefully they will buy them and sell them at a loss to me. :) Once I read the specs and approve. lol

Exactly my thoughts.... just like the RTT explosion that flooded the market with brand new "used" tents a few years ago

When I was 12 I did 60 miles with my 12 year old friend. It took me six months to talk my friends parents into it. We met a 65 yr old that just retired. He was doing the entire trail.

Ive walked portions on day trips but never any high mileage like that. I can only dream of taking 6 months off and tackling it. I'm certain my body would be happy to do it, not so certain I'd have the metal fortitude to complete a task like walking a few thousand miles solo.

A little update from Smittybilt... at least there is a page now. One option seems to be the trailer minus wheels and tires... which is what I would prefer as to get matching rims and tires. Also saw a video on the book of faces in which the guys from JP magazine built the trailer in about 3-4 hours. I must say, I was pretty impressed. Jury is still out, I want to see more reviews.

$6000 for a already assembled trailer.. have you looked at the other pre-built alternatives? It's about half or even 1/3 the price of others. Is it as dependable as a $15k Adventure Trailer version... probably not. Depends on how you are using it I suppose.

How much do you have in your trailer so far? They still have good odds of having their trailers on the trails before you.

With the money he put into to it...after 6 years plus TVM
Blakes will cost 8,000 and probably still not finished. Damn if he had a nickle from us every time he started a project he would be rich, and still a whole lot of unfinished projects lol
