A coworker has one, and his leaks less than my standard Leer. It actually pulls the cap down on the bed rails at its lowest position with the actuators. I’m actually looking into building my own system with sourced parts. You can buy the actuators and switch components for about $250, and I have a buddy that is going to help me fabricate the brackets. My wife is a wizard on a sewing machine, so will probably make our own canvas sides. Our biggest complaint camping in my camper shell was head room, so this solves that.

Interested in that parts list. If I put my RTT on a trailer I would really like the option to raise and lower it through a powered system.

Lots of side load on those joints... they will fail.. easy fix... but its super cool.

Yeah - good idea but the screw scissor jack method for the sides is a much better idea than that.

Hopefully his final video is not a eulogy because something broke he died coming off the top. People laugh about the height of a roof but after seeing the hell my father-in-law has been through over the last two years since his fall I am much more respectful of ladders and anything over 5' off the ground.

Humans are amazingly strong and yet surprisingly brittle.

x2. X-rays of my moms spine after her fall from her 4' ladder were reminiscent of a hockey puck dipped in liquid nitrogen then smacked with a hammer. In the end she needed 5 vertibre fused and is lucky to be alive

always makes me wince when I have to set my hammock up over rocks or stumps


On another note I took a hike this morning to try out my new snow chains for my feet. My yaktrax are great but only on flat surfaces. Needed something with a little more bite for icy hills.

Those look like a good option for wading boots rather than those hadbite studs for vibram boots.

They aren't nearly as good as crampons but they work on everything from my Sorel sub zero super insulated duck boots to my summer time ultra light breathable sneakers. My only worry was the rubber breaking with the cold temps and so far so good down to 3*.

One of those items you purchase hoping you never need to use it. @ $235 ($33 a year x 7 year cert) there is pretty much no excuses for not having one anymore except maybe not knowing any better.

Looking for a new sleeping bag, I decided not to get a bag and instead got a blanket. Got a Rumpl Fleece Puffy to go with my Adventure Tool Co wool blankets. Hopefully my choice works well. I know those ATC wool blankets are nice, the Rumpl I took a gamble with.

Ive taken a similar tact and gone to top quilts for my hammocks. Pretty similar but buttons at the bottom can be snapped together and create a foot box.

I bought the wife a Rumple a few years back. Mainly used when she is watching TV in the media room. But I like it. Not sure how "warm" it will be when its 35 degrees out. But combined with other blankets it should be fine.

Not the cheapest, expect to pay $250-400 for a quality made blanket. but it is one of warmest blankets you can get; woven mohair blankets, extremely lightweight too.

My new PLB just came in from across the pond. All registered up and ready to never use it.

Changed my emergency contacts around for this one ~ Chances are if you get a call from NOAA regarding my PLB it's going to be "we recovered the corpse" type news so my sister and brother in law will get this call. Doubtful my mother could handle that.

Yea, I'm not too concerned with warmth as most of the time it's not terribly cold when we're camping. Layers work best than stuck with a horribly warm sleeping bag with feet sweat.

I like my Rumpl but I mainly just use it as a regular blanket around the house. Works well in the hammock though. Woukd probably be great for a RTT.
