Yeah; most people end up paying a shop because of the PITA it is. If I come across a good deal on a set of headers I will probably move forward with them but not unless I do. The $$$ for the power increase seems to be pretty low even with the s/c. Mainly I want to help drop the under hood temps.

I've heard it's a huge PITA to put headers on the 3.4 in the 4Runner

No clue how similar they are to a Tacoma, but the ds steering shaft made it harder for me than the ps. Also mine aren't equal length so the new ones will most likely be more difficult to install.

I don't know how to use this site that well or get notified when I'm tagged lol

Sadly I bought my headers many moons ago before these were out. Mine are JBA long tubes with ceramic coating in titanium color.

Only thing I can say is I got them in by myself pretty easily after I put the engine in. Helped I have everything else removed I'm sure.
Ahh ok. My bad, thought you had the URD headers.

bought them from URD if that helps lol

he's semi close to me so I always get my exhaust from him. Think Ill be running JBA long tubes into URD Y pipe (My DT Y pipe turned into a a rusty pile of crap), and I think JBA stainless exhaust.

My first dealing with aluminized parts (DT Y pipe) and they are not worth it.

The URD equal length headers say that you need to disconnect the steering shaft for the install.

I know this thread has a sarcastic "let's get Sean to spend money on crap that he doesn't need and we want" feel to it; but in this case, I'm genuinely curious. The equal length headers have an increase in power across the band. Unlike other long tube headers that provide power in the higher RPM range, but have a drop in the daily-driving-RPM-range. @Silverback has a fairly heavy truck, and I'd like to know if he thinks these are worth it.

I'm thinking these could be an alternative source of power as opposed to a re-gear. At least a bandaid until I can afford to regear and lock.

You will need to replace the entire exhaust piping in order to feel a gain. The Tacoma exhaust is actually a small internal pipe inside a big pipe so unless you replace everything, you won't feel a difference in power. You need to price out the entire URD exhaust (headers, Y-pipe, and muffler).

I would save your money and re-gear first.

I didn't get mine for any added power. Just something to replace the crappy stockers when the new motor went in+ when I have a LEO behind me now Ill get the adrenaline high from having removed 4 cats that equates to about 12k in fines lol

If anyone does end up getting them - let me know. You pay shipping and Ill give you the ARP header studs for free I bought and did not use. They gotta go onto your ride though - no selling or trading to others.

I was going to swap them out but the new engine was basically brand new and the existing studs looked like they were never even used.

If your truck is old and rusty with high mileage - good luck getting the old studs out w/o breaking them. We tried a few of mine just for fun when we had the engine removed. Both snapped instantly.

This is what I'm afraid of when I want to swap mine out someday.

I need that - someone dug a hole in my yard over the weekend. Now, we did just get new gas lines and the hole is on top of one of the larger holes that has been filled, but still - someone dug a dam hole in my yard and just left it there. Has me seriously considering some sort of camera system. Ive been putting it off for years, because Ive never had any issues.

I got a camera system for packages at the front door and the driveway. I never realized how many people actually walk on my "property" during the day while I'm work . It made me buy another camera for my backdoor. You have city workers, neighbors pets, utility people, etc...

Yeah, same here. The other day some random black dude comes to the front door (watching on Ring) and knocks. My catahoula Jake is on the other side of the door and I can hear him give off a nice deep WOOF!. Dude turns and walks away.
