So sad because I loved the old Celica Supras. I remember being about 14 years old riding in a dads friends Supra back in 82 or so. Thing was like a spaceship inside.

Those shackles are most likely from a Jeep and cost about $35 on flebay. I put them on my ATO shackle flip. ATO charges $199 for their raw steel flips kit. So all in I paid about $270 for my total flip kit but I also swapped out all the bolts for greaseable bolts.

So after the shackle flip kit what else needs to be extended to make sure nothing gets tore up at full droop? Have to add the $$ + $ + $ = $$$

Need limit straps if you try to max the droop. If my truck moved I could easily rip out the e-brake cable and brake lines and my brake lines are already extended by 4". Basically "if" you want to run a e-brake - the cable is the limiting factor. Strech it to much and it will lock the brakes. Thats always funny to see on the trail. Last time I was out a guy kinked his and we had to cut the cable to get his brakes unlocked lol I also went with a 6" XJ shackle and that's a little aggressive. Oh and don't forget the new shocks & bump stops you'll need. I'm not done tweaking mine yet, but I think I put my travel #'s in my build a year or two ago. back when i did it I'm pretty sure I was the only person fitting 12" shocks w/o adding hoops. Once I get it running - Ill get back on track with setting up the rear suspension. As of now my 4yo dakars aren't even settled/broken in yet - and I lost some up travel I need to figure out how to get back.

I think you misread the title... This is not the "talk him out of doing something to his truck" thread.

I first came across these on this guy's build thread: ETxTacoma's Kinda Flexy Dynatrac Rear Build and BS Thread. I'd like to know if they add any benefit.

Get the geometry of it and Ill compare it to my old hangers. Heck I can draw it up in CAD like I did for Drew when he was "making flips". I might even still have that file from years ago when I drew them up from Rich's old shackles.

It keeps the shackle in the same direction as stock so unless they changed the placment of the holes in the hangers or the shackle length, it's identical to stock.

As far as I know the only way he's going to add flex is if they lengthen the shackle and or move the mount back towards the bumper. Should handle better on road vs than a truck with a shackle flip, but that's just my thinking about geometric theory applied to it.

Since my 4R is paid off now I may end up putting headers on it to help the supercharger. It will be a year or so though; I have a list of work to do on the Tacoma first.

I don't know how to use this site that well or get notified when I'm tagged lol

Sadly I bought my headers many moons ago before these were out. Mine are JBA long tubes with ceramic coating in titanium color.

Only thing I can say is I got them in by myself pretty easily after I put the engine in. Helped I have everything else removed I'm sure.

I've heard it's a huge PITA to put headers on the 3.4 in the 4Runner
