Just Guns

Picked it up this morning and my dad helped me get it moved back into the man cave. Got it back in the hole and loaded it down with guns and ammo. Going to look good when I get my buck and aoudad mounted up above it. Have a battery powered motion sensitive light coming tomorrow for the interior as well as a dessicant dehumidifier. It should be fine seeing as how I put it in the house but for $17 I'd rather be safe than sorry. Love the door panel storage for pistols and my AR. Fixes the problem I've always had of the AR being to short to stand up in the safe.

Spend the time and do it right, no matter how much weight you add to it, it can be moved, especially since it's on carpet.

Anyone know where I can have a new buttsrock made? I have my great grandpa's old J Steven's single shot .410 that the butt stock is all busted up on. I'd like to have a new one made for it. I know the gun isnt worth much at all and still wont be after I have a new stock put on but it's more about the sentimental value. This was the first gun I ever shot and it's been in the family since new almost 100 years ago. I'd love to be able to shoot it again rather than just have it sitting in the safe or hanging on the wall. Willing to travel a bit to have it done. Just looking for recommendations.

Post a picture of the stock, I have a couple old wood stocks, but I was thinking they were from a company called Stevenson, out of California from late 1960-70's.

Ordered the JP Rifles barrel /bolt and adjustable gas block today for the 6.5 Grendel build. The Midwest Industries hand guard should be here later this week.

@Anathollo is a solid resource of info to blow a budget build. lol

I'm guessing you got a butthole stretching on that purchase. LOL

It was a little gentle due to the Black Friday sale (of sorts). I still have to sort out a bipod but I know which scopes I want to pick between, the mount, and muzzle device. Just money, right?

I would do this if it was that simple. House is pier and beam so I'd have to use carriage bolts or something and theres not enough room under that part of the house to get to it. I'd have to dig a hole on the side of my house and tunnel over to it. Fuck that.

I'll get one when I'm home. I found a source for new stocks for it but I don't know what model it is or anything so not sure exactly which one I need to order. Only markings on it are J Steven's Arms, the address of the company, and where it says its 410 gauge. No serial number, no model number, and no kind of markings.

Well you gotta pay to play on a higher level :p But for 6.5G, it's hard to beat JP's deal where you get a individually head-spaced bolt that is matched to THAT specific barrel. Plus their 6.5G bolt is the best on the market.

Use some 3/4" lag bolts to screw it down to the floor in that case. Better than nothing.

Have you thought about maybe hanging a curtain in front of the safe to kinda hide it and keep it out of sight? If you got a buddy to help you scoot the safe into one corner, it looks like you might have enough room for like a tall, skinny ammo safe or something like that? Maybe put some shelves over the safe too for extra storage? These are all just ideas-trying to think of some cool stuff you could do with that space.

This is the last bipod you'll ever need. Yeah it's expensive but it is a damn good bipod (I hate Harris bipods). I dropped mine by accident off a 40' sniper tower onto a concrete piling and its fine, just has a little scratch on it.

What do you have against my savings account? But yes - I have been eyeballing the Atlas bipods. I am still trying to define what role I expect this rifle to play and/or if I upgrade my Rem700 stock if I can easily move the bipod from rig to rig that would be a much easier price tag to pay.

lol My bad...

But put one of these adapters on your stock and you are GTG. I put one on my coworkers Tikka and it's absolutely solid. You don't have to drill holes in your stock or anything.

J Steven's Arms is now Savage Arms

I have a side-by-side double barrel 12ga of theirs from 1914.

An incredible gun. I'd read about these a long time ago but this is a great video on all the details of this weapon system.

Had to order a barrel clamp today. I was installing a flash hider on my 700 and I can't get the crush washer good enough. Ordered a Wheelers multi-diameter barrel clamp you put in a vise. Should be here tomorrow.
