I don't really have a use for 6.5 Creedmoor. I have my .257 Wby for deer and my 6.8 AR for hogs. But I want one.

I was trying to decide between 6.5 and 6.8 for my next one. Pretty much decided on 6.5

Over 20% of the nations jobs revolve around agriculture, everyone has to eat, cotton, transportation, ethanol and natural resources.

It's sad the US is allowing the Chinese to buy up the brewery's, commercial nut, beef and pig farms

There are tons of Ag jobs out there, but I'm going to be a pilot so it's not very similar. Doesn't matter though, all I have to do is be able to check the 4 year degree box and I'm good.

Good choice. 6.8 is just a specialized .270 cartridge.

But they are coming out with a .224 Valkyrie cartridge now that is supposed to have amazing ballistics out to 1200 yards and less recoil than 6.5 Grendel.

Interesting. Not sure how I feel about a .224. Wouldn't it be basically a .223 but a little bit bigger going faster to hit 1200 yards?

The 224 Valkyrie is supposed to be a better/ more efficient design in the cartridge. I have a buddy who is real deep in the long distance stuff with some well known guys in Florida and they are all watching this round. He even told me to hold off on an AR platform 6.x build until this one comes out just to make sure I build the right rifle.

For precision rifle work I still prefer my 300 Win Mag because there is no such thing as over kill except when shooting paper. I have debated doing a 6.5 build in a bolt setup though for a cheaper shooting paper punch sometime in the near future.

I want to try my .300 weatherby on some long range shooting. Gonna have to wait until after deer season though

The 30 cal belted magnums do a good job at long range shooting. The 6.x cartridges have earned a strong following in tactical matches for being accurate at long ranges, light recoil, and being able to keep the scope on target for shooter observation though. In the end they will both put down Texas game animals; but if you are going to the mountains the 30 cals become popular for big game.

Yep a lot of people are waiting on this round to see what it can do. Only issue right now is buying ammo for a decent price.

Which reminds me I need to take some time this winter and get my Dillon setup to start cranking out pistol and carbine ammo. I have a few die plate sets now that I can set for dedicated use. Maybe even end up doing a TOR ammo day.

458 SOCOM. Hit em hard enough to knock their bones out.

12 gauge slug gun is great at putting down hogs. 1oz of lead will fuck them up. Cheap enough to bang around in the woods and proven performance.

I can see every bit of 800 yards from one of my deer stands. Could see even more if I remove a couple trees. Don't have enough practice at that range to shoot an animal yet, but I plan to work on that after deer season

For hunting at that range I would be more comfortable with a 30 cal magnum. They have enough energy to do the job that far out - and further really.

This. I still wish I kept the 300 Remington Ultra Mag I bought 15 years ago for an Alaska trip that fell tbrough. More power at 300 yards than a 300 weatberby at 200 yards.

A few years ago there was a movement back towards lighter 30 cal bullets in the magnums to get more fps for a flatter shooting load on deer sized game and smaller. I saw some pics where a guy was hunting pigs with a 168 grain Hornady Amax at 3,300 fps (if I am remembering right) and it was devastating on the pig. He started calling them his anti-armor rounds because of how badly they tore up pigs.
