It was in better shape than I would have guessed. Its the sun that kills them. So with the old rope the last foot or so stuck out of the fairlead and was exposed to the sun. That was the only spot I would question. The new one has a 6' scuff protector sleeve over it, this with the ProLink means the line should last a very very long time as it is not really exposed to the sun. The winch drum was rusty as shit though. I hit it with a die grinder and scotchbright disc to clean it up. Then repainted. If you look at the old rope photo, the red parts of the rope (there to tell you its spooled out too far and also a heat resistant layer) there was black paint like stuck to the rope, I thought it was melted rope at first but its just paint.
