I so want a grey water system. Right now I take out a bucket in the morning from allowing the water to warm up. We also throw all of our rinse water on our garden each time I do dishes (we have a rinse 'bucket' that sits in the sink).

You sound just like my mom. She won't let any of the cold water go down the drain when she is waiting for the hot water to cycle up to her faucet. Very commendable - I can't do it. No patience.

Since we have an aerobic septic system I am not that careful about water going down the drain. Eventually it all ends up on my grass anyways but we still keep free running water to a minimum. I have never understood using a water hose to wash off the driveway when a broom works just as well.

And our sewage is turned into drinking quality water and injected into our aquifer to keep sea water from seeping in.

Picking up a smoker soon so I am building a roof to cover it. Picked up the posts and lumber last. Doing 2 posts and will pitch the roof so water runs off the back. Spots where it's going. More pictures to come as progress happens.

I am going to put down some stones and gravel for the base. This spot is right out the back door of my man cave. Roof is going to be 8'x5'. Going to cover it in barn tin. I have power near with the man cave so I might try to put in some lights.

Solar powered LED lights would be pretty easy and cheap. Remember the "playhouse" in Sean's backyard?

So a few months ago we had some close to 70 MPH winds come through here and demolished our pergola. Momma was unhappy. So I got a new one and reinforced it with 6' long 4x4's inside each leg attached to a 18" sq paverstone via the U straps Michael suggested and a large 3/8x6" lag bolt through the middle. Fuckers are heavy. Also plan to run 12" rebar down through the pavers to prevent them from sliding on the flagstone. Anyhow.. momma is happy. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

So I got a new one and reinforced it with 6' long 4x4's inside each leg attached to a 18" sq paverstone via the U straps Michael suggested and a large 3/8x6" lag bolt through the middle. Fuckers are heavy. Also plan to add some full size wine barrels to each of the legs and run 12" rebar down through the pavers to prevent them from sliding on the flagstone. Anyhow.. momma is happy. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

Made progress on my project today. Got the posts set, weed barrier layed out, and the roof built. Just a few more things to do before I get the roof mounted. The metal on the fence and compost bin is to help protect it from the fire box.

Fuck.. I welded about 4 12" spikes to the bottom of it... she's planted <no pun intended> in the ground.

It did break about 4 or 5 bottles though... and the led lights on it got cut so only the bottom 1/4 light up. I have a new set of lights I need to install on it. Tomorrows project.

Fucking Chamberlain garage door opener won't close! Thing is damn near brand new... maybe 3 months old or so. Anyhow, says the sensor is obstructed.. which its not. Thing worked fine.. then I went to check the mail.. came back and it wouldn't close. Seems the amber light is one but the green light will not come on regardless of what I do. Checked power and its getting its 6v (within spec).. so now its off to Home Depot to see if they will warranty the sensor or what. I really don't want to wait for Chamberlain and get a new part in 2 weeks or whatever. Fuckers.
