Tommy want wingy..
Well the deck is finished. Pavers have been moved and I pinched a nerve in my lower back. Small victory.

Installed a new router yesterday. It's my last attempt to fix the internet connection in the two back bedrooms before I just run Cat6 throughout the house. So far, so good.

What router did you end up going with?

Yep and to Keep the leaves from migrating towards it..

Looking good!

Finished the last of my exploratory demo I should of done a month ago. Gotta love when you find a 1/2" gap above the header.

found this on both sides so decided to dig deeper. I shouldn't of. whoever bootleged this window install decided it would be a good idea to cut out the bottom of the top plate to fit a notched 2x10 in there. the notch is 1/2" too deep and the morons didn't even support under the notch w/studs so all that work is useless IMHO.

fixed it up as best I could and did a mock up layout before I put pen to paper for the last of my window permit drawings

I would never notch out any portion of the top plate, but I did look it up and it "can" be acceptable so fingers crossed I don't have to correct it when they see it on the plans. I do not want to have to build a temp wall so hopefully supporting it from under witht he studs my two new double hungs will need is good enough. I'd like to know how much it cost to take out the original two double hung windows back in the day to put this monstrosity of a 114" long x 66" tall POS bay window in completely wrong? I'm guessing someone paid 5k to ruin the house so that I can spend 1-2k taking it back to original.

This morning I wake up to hear my well kicking on quite a bit and wondering wtf going on. I go to the basement and hear the head for the acid neutralizer sounding like a backwash cycle but it was on the fresh water portion of the timer. Ended up being a cheap fix, quick disasssembly and found a piece of calcite had made its way into one of the drain valve cavities preventing the valve from seating. It backwashed last night so that’s likely when it happened.

Working from home has its perks otherwise I might have had a hefty electric bill lol

Got autocad LT figured out for offline use finally. After days of wasting my time hand drawing & months of putting it off I gave up and figured out how to get it to work with a little help from a friend. Stubbornness & adversity for the win.

My window openings will be pretty much bomb proof with all the framing.

Finished the window drawings this morning and was all proud of myself. Was triple checking all the dims before I moved onto the stairs and boy did I drop the ball. Every drawing was completely wrong from the ground up. I'm not used to drawing wood so instead of 1-1/2" thick 2x4's I drew them all @ 1-3/4" thick. Only thing I can think of is I reverted back to drawing 1-3/4" glass mullions because thats their dim. and they are fairly common for my trade. So far Ive corrected 6 of 10 elevations so still got 40% left to fix. Lost a day there, but just glad I caught it while it was still on paper and before I submitted it or built it. Would of sucked to find it out while framing after I already had approvals.

Badda bing, badda boom. My mom heard this one pop this morning. This 1" 90° insulation came loose which exposed the corner and it froze right there and blew out.

$60 later in fittings and a whole stick of 1" copper pipe. I ended up having to cut the old fittings out because I could not get the sauter to loosen up (I later found water and ice still in the line after I cut it with a grinder).

I then insulated it with some 3/4" insulation I had in the garage and a metric shit-ton of duct tape. I'm still going to shut off the water and drain the house every night until it stops freezing.

Wait.... thats the service line right? Holy crap - here I am thinking the media is over hyping the storm.

Is that standard practice to have above ground service lines?

If thats the case..... plumbers are going to be very busy for a very long time down there & if anyones looking to buy a house - you had better take a real long good look for leaks prior.

No my mom's house is an outlier. It's basically a beach house on a street. Also, my parents built this house in sections (they would save up, build one floor, wait & save up again, etc...) And IIRC, this section with the water line was going to be closed in at one time (which would've closed in the water line as well) but that never happened so then you get weird shit like this.

I'll be closing in this section of the house one day as I have some sweet plans for this house when I inherit it.

But no the media isn't overhyping the storm this time. This is the most snow I've ever see here. Our homes are not designed and built for this weather.

Yeah, storm was no joke.. things are still frozen. That ice on the spillways is about 3' tall and protrudes 12-15".. thick stuff.

My mortgage payment just went up $700...

...looking at refi options.

Good time to do it.. we did it back in Oct/Nov.. got 2.35% IIRC. You can get lower now. Why did it go up $700? Property taxes?

Escrow seems to always be wanting more, I started paying my taxes separately so they stopped holding so much of my money. Why let them play with a few extra grand?

Yeah I'm about to refi as well I believe and get away from paying taxes and insurance through escrow.

You get your estimated tax bill for 2021 yet? Mine didn't increase. I almost fell over.
