Couldn't sleep last night so I spent some time working on the wifi in my house. Finally ran a wifi scanner program and figured out that my Arlo basestation and Apple Airport Extreme were on the same 2.4ghz channel and were fighting each other for connection. So I switched the radio channel for my Airport Extreme and now my wifi connection is so much faster. I was able to stream YouTube videos so much faster now (before it would take a few seconds to start loading the next video).
Went and fixed my mom's wifi as well tonight. Got hers running faster as well. Her wifi was sharing the same channel as the neighbors.

Plans & forms submitted to the gubment for approval as of a minute ago.

Fingers crossed this goes as good as my demo permit interaction did because that was great.

Hopefully all I need to do is drop a check off & see what inspections will be required. I'm thinking at worse foundation before I fill the sonotubes and framing prior to drywall. We shall see. The inspector said because of covid they have been very lenient. Not like I didn't fill out pages worth of legal docs stating I am personally responsible for insuring all codes are met and my plans are followed to a "T".

But he will notice the new wood stairs and then look at his drone pictures form the year prior and catch you. Might want to leave a fifty dollar bill on those steps to pass inspection. 🤔

I won't at the next place. Land in an unincorporated area or bust. Even then you still got the local Sheriff, Fish and Game, Etc.

Ill still build above code, but the drawings won't go the gubment for "approval".

'Land in an unincorporated area or bust'

^This. it's just less restrictions period.

He's been cool so far so I'm not looking to force his hand. For all I know I may not even need any inspections. The inspector said it was all up the the big boss.

I'm also not building staircases....just three separate steps. One to my deck, then one inside the house at my master bedroom sliding door and one at the rear door in my kitchen.

Just got done screwing the kitchen step together. Still needs a final sanding after I round off the edges when my router shows up.

Pocket holes no good in soft ass wet PT yellow pine during testing last night so I just face screwed it all today. Will be much stronger this way anyway. Ill leave the pocket screws for the hardwoods or at least dried PT - this stuffs soaked.

just realized that steps in the wrong spot. that old pic is the step to my deck not the kitchen door

here's the right one. got steps for days so got confused lol

tom Ill build the one for my sliding door then sand them all and wait for the router to show up.

11" treads suck. I should of build bigger. used to sitting on my 15" concrete step. it wobbled, was the wrong riser height, and had no way to connect it to the deck easily so it's going to my sisters for her shed.

done & time to clean up for now. got lucky and only drilled one hole in the wrong spot but I made it work where it was. Router should be here midweek so I can finish then. added a 1/4 gap in between the treads on the long steps I built today to make them a little wider. Ill move the back treads on the smaller steps during install.

Thinking of using some 1 x 1 aluminum angle for mounting them blind on the inside. Two mount on wood and one on a sidewalk. I also have a box of used brass hinges Ill never use so maybe Ill use a bunch of hinges on the wood install and the aluminum angle w/anchors for the concrete....idk

Just swapped out the 1/2" fitting at my moms. Never seen one crack like that before.

frost line for me is 36" - you are south of me so could be less. the 8 x 12 of pad is based on load & the 8" is just what it ended up being when the two were factored. I could of done a couple inches less but always prefer to do more than less when it comes to code. no need to push the limits on a small project. if i had 100 holes it would be different.

Ill be lucky if they let me get away with 6" piers. usually 8 is min. we shall see. this is a small ass landing

Hopefully your township will be good with it, seems ok in my book lol I hear you on the less, sometimes not worth chancing on a smaller sized project. Let me know if you need a hand anytime I'm working from home bored as hell

Not my house but helped a buddy improve his home a little bit this weekend. Drove out to Amish country to help pick up this lift. Got the big pieces put up, all that's left is the motor/pump install and routing some of the cable and pulleys. Never heard of this company but he did some research, seems like a decent option for the occasional use and most used for car storage rather than maintenance, damn this thing was heavy lol Advantage Lifts - High Quality 2 Post and 4 Post Car Lifts

Wife has been after me to make a built in bookcase in this little nook area that otherwise is pretty useless.

The "help" really slowed things down, but I'd rather get them involved do that they don't end up like the useless masses.

(The router pic was staged. I'm not ready for her to handle something like that on her own. Though I did let her help on one of the routes. )

I still need to add some caulk along some of the edges and install a piece of trim on the front of that bottom piece. Oh, and sand the outer side pieces. The Kreg shelf pin jig was really handy, but leaves some rough edges. Normally, I would take care of all the sanding outside, but my wife was ready for everything to be installed. Oh well.

I don't do the painting. That's all on her.

can you chamfer them or will it pull more away?

I drilled then countersunk all the holes before I screwed my steps and with the soft wood it was not fun. I had to decrease drill bit dia and go to a brand new sharper countersink so it wouldn't pull splinters up. Also used a hand screwdriver to set them the final inch or so to protect the threads oh and I used liquid soap to lube the screws like we used to do way back in the day. With all that I'm coming to realize soft wood sucks regardless of what you do
