My buddy had a new (bought it at the end of 2019) Samsung fridge and his ice maker sucked as well. So much so that he ended up buying a stand-alone ice maker,

All the appliances in the kitchen are GE Cafe series. No issues and 8 years old.

One of our neighbors took out a loan to replace all of their kitchen appliances with Samsung stuff they bought from Best Buy. New fridge, microwave/oven combo, new range and vent hood.

The range vent hood combination is actually pretty cool. They connect via bluetooth and the vent kicks on automatically at certain points when the range is active. On the flip side of that, they've had them for just over a year and the microwave doesn't work. The loan outlasted the appliance.

And sad they had to take a loan for appliances too.

Hell, it is easy to break $10k in kitchen appliances.

Probably so, but if ain't broke why replace all of them? So they can keep up with Jones and then take a stupid loan out on top of it.

They aren't poor, but I think they live on credit. In the past 2 years, they've bought a new ski boat, a new F250 King Ranch, a new pull behind RV and new appliances. As far as I know, at least as of the last time we talked about mortgages, they are still paying the PMI.

He's a foody and a trendy chef. Top of the line outdoor pizza oven, green egg, etc. He wanted a range that put out a ridiculous amount of BTUs....22,000 I think and Samsung had the highest BTU rating on the range. The others were to match the range in black stainless.

Pretty sure it is this one: 30" Smart Gas Cooktop with 22K BTU Dual Power Burner in Black Stainless Steel Cooktop - NA30N7755TG/AA | Samsung US

^^^This is not the same neighbor that I talked about a few months back who is using his Porsche to do high class airport shuttle services.

....I live in a very image conscious neighborhood, apparently....

Pretty sure my truck is the oldest on the block by a decent margin.

My Samsung fridge is still doing it's job just fine but only going on 3.5 years. No ice in the door or anything fancy like that though. It was one of the cheapest models you could get with the freezer at the bottom. It's almost an exact clone of my parents LG fridge that's 18 years old and theirs is still kicking. All the rest of my appliances are Frigidaire and they've been decent but starting to show wear as they were the cheap builder-grade stuff.

No way in heck I'd spend 1/3 of that in my hood and I didnt.

On another note I got a talking to from my framing inspector today.

Guy just about blew me. He was 5min early and by the time my appointment time had come I already had my approval paperwork and we were in my front yard BSing. Guy was so happy I almost feel like it was a dream. I hope he's the inspector I get for the rest. He did say he would be back tom for my insulation.

Sounds like you should have been the one offering to blow.
Nah. I prob made his day. Hes a carpenter by trade so by the end I was busting his balls telling him Glazer's are better at their trade then them.

The sad part is that the quality of my work is not the norm that he sees because I'm a desk jockey not an actual tradesmen

Gotta love those inspectors. I spent two hours talking to one about hunting after a concrete rebar inspection and I spent another hour talking to a different inspector about elk hunting after a wall cover inspection lol

My mom's LG fridge is a 2015 model and it's a hot piece of shit. Compressor already went out on it and it takes a full day to make two cups worth of ice.

We ended up BSing so much I forgot to ask him the only two questions I had or get a card from him.

Now I've got to call the office and ask #1 do they want a poly barrier #2 if so how do they want it terminated since none of the rest of the house has it.

Then if I can get away with 6mil or have to use thicker. I've got rolls of 6 and 9.

Welp, no one knows so it's being kicked upstairs to the big boss.

Apparently I'm the first to retrofit a house with rockwool. Since its unfaced being used in a remodel they aren't sure.

I'd guess it's not a good idea and that's why everyone's houses rot out. That plus using crappy tyvek lol

Dude my town doesnt mess around. Always got quick answer's.

Since its unfaced they want poly. Thickness doesnt matter. Termination can be tape. No need for acoustic caulk.
