I had two painters at the house all weekend taping off everything and caulking seams to get ready to spray the house next week.

I got these windows trimmed out but I'm waiting on the window stool trim to come in so I can finish them out.

On Monday we got around 2.5-3” of rain in the span of about half an hour. Went outside this morning and saw this. This is one of the spots that we had piers put under the house a month or so ago. Guess tomorrow I’ll haul some dirt around from the back to fill it in. Looks like all the other spots sank an inch or so but none of them caved in like this one. If tomorrow wasn’t my last day off work and I didn’t already have plans, I’d take the opportunity to dig all this shitty dirt out of this flower bed and go get a few yards of good dirt brought in. But for now I’ll just use what I have and then dig it all out at some other point once my wife decides what she wants to do with this spot. If she doesn’t hurry up and decide, it might get turned into a putting green.

The soil should not be above the slab.
The mortar joints and weep holes make easy access for wood destroying insects.

Countertops went in yesterday! Finally feels like the house is almost finished. It feels great to see an idea/design come together that I've been thinking about for the past two years!

Girls bathroom counter. The cabinets are a different color as that's just blue protective plastic on them right now.

I decked as much of my attic as I needed today. I'll finish the rest when it's cold outside. Thankfully it wasn't that hot this morning with a strong cold breeze blowing through.

Painters are still getting everything prepped to spray.

Yesterday the cabinet guys were finishing up the cabinets.

I had a bunch of shiplap cut off pieces leftover so I used them on the guest bathroom to frame out over the sink.

And then I capped the post bases.

Tommy want wingy..
Got the last side of the garage done that I had been putting off since I’ve been busy in the garage. New roof going on the garage on Tuesday. They are replacing about 8 sheets of decking along with a new ridge vent and all the ancillary stuff. Have all the materials for a generator stand that will go on this side. Natural gas is already plumbed in so might as well. I’ll probably get an 11KW later in the year. I wanted to have it done before hurricane season hit but that didn’t happen.

Same here. I'm waiting for my bank account to recover so I can purchase the trifuel generator I want.

I took off work yesterday to meet the city inspector to inspect my power pole to make sure it hadn't been damaged by a falling tree limb. So I passed that with flying colors as he was there and gone in two minutes. Centerpoint showed up at lunch to reconnect the power!

So I woke up early to move over all of my wife's outdoor plants, my outdoor stuff, welcome mats, etc... to make the house look lived in. It's crazy what some plants in pots and a welcome mat will do to make a house feel like home.

I had sometime to kill waiting for Centerpoint so I cut down a bunch of low hanging branches (I would have to duck under them while mowing or weedeating) and filled up my little 4'x10' trailer with the branches.

My wife and I moved everything over from our attic to the new houses attic. She's been going through all the kiddo's stuff and donating what we haven't been able to sell or give away.

Electrician should be by today to troubleshoot some breakers that are tripping.

Painters will be onsite this weekend to finally start priming and then painting the baseboards.

AC contractor will be by on Tuesday to charge my AC units and get them turned on so we can finally air condition the house.

What are you going to do with all the free time you are about to have?!?!?!

Yard work. Lots of yard work. Maybe we can sneak in a few range days.

Fuck yard work lol I did that non-stop growing up with my mom so I'm done with that nonsense. All I'm going to do is mow, trim trees and build planter boxes for my wife. Is she wants plants and a garden, she's going to have to care of it on her own.

And yes, I will be getting back into my old shooting schedule. That's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. So we will def get some range days in.

Painters have been working the past two days. The upstairs and downstairs trim have been sprayed with one coat of white lacquer undercoat.

I installed the Nest thermostats in the house. I took the Nest from the rent house and installed it at the bayhouse. I put in a cheapish Honeywell thermostat in the rent house. AC contractor came today and got the AC's going so the house is currently cooling down. I'm happy with how quiet these Trane units are.

I brought over the downstairs glass panel to put in for the shower and the bottom of the box gave out while I was 2" off the floor setting it down so it completely shattered. But it's a blessing in disguise because when my wife went to reorder the same glass panel online, the reviews said the panel shatters on it own after being installed. So we're just gonna wait until we can afford to put in a proper glass panel with a shower door. Just put up a shower curtain for now.

And I mowed the yard again.

She’s just started being afraid of thunderstorms randomly and no one was home during this one. She went in the front bedroom looking for me or my wife and the door closed behind her. Tried to dig her way out. My MIL found her later when she came to feed the dogs. There was already a seam under that door that had curled up a couple times so it’s not a surprise it tore up that easy. I’d be mad if we didn’t already have money saved up for new floors. Just changed plans on which end of the house we are going to start on.
