I'm not saying I don't believe in a higher power... I'm saying religions for the most part suck. I was raised Catholic, sent my kids to Catholic school, the whole 9 yards. I've just seen too much hypocrisy in the church which is the main reason I've fallen away from it. I'm sure there is something bigger than us and I'm sure he/she/it is watching. But I just don't believe its really a kind and loving God, if it he has a strange way of showing it.

I hear you Sean. I will say this about a living God, I think the more we have or the deeper the chasm between rich and poor, the more of a mindset issue between the peeps. I truly believe in a living God. I know my life could suck a whole lot more. Some of the folks I meet in small villages in Mexico are happier than many of my closest and would help me far faster too. I know we are blessed.

I agree, not saying I am either. I also just have some disagreements with its teachings as well. My wife and daughter still go to church, I just do not.

Shit happens. You talk about the American Natives from a perspective of the 21st century. Go back 400 years and the rules were very different. Here is one more example of the way things used to be. Now we take the weakest link and try to create a society that supports that weak link and we all have to live by pansy rules.

So why don't you blame the countries that forced a particular religion or would persecute its people for practicing their religion. Are they not to blame either? Life is not fair. I know that from the last 8 years! or as it is said in the beginning of the book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" - "Life is Hard."

Two wrongs don't make a right so I do not blame anyone else, especially a foreign gubment for what was done to inhabitants of a land 3k away from their rule.
If we pass blame to the beginning should we just weed out all the middle men and go strait to blaming Eve for all of mans sins? (bad joke - not expecting a real response)
One religion being persecuted so badly that they leave their land and go do the same (actually WAY worse) to the inhabitants of another land...does not make sense to me.

All I'm saying is the current uprising of extreme Islam while a few hundred years later reminds me of what other religions have done in the past. It's my opinion so nothing to get worked up about. Other religions and even Islamist's thinks Isis's actions are brutal and horrific meanwhile many of them pray to a god who has a history of it's believers doing very similar actions a few hundred years ago. Instead of horses and sail boats now they have Toyotas and planes.....and believe in another god.

I have a few bibles, a Koran, and a Vidas. I've read them all to gain perspective back in my college days of learning crime intelligence analysis (bible I read much earlier and many times more). Even signed up to learn Arabic so I could get more $$$, but the FBI filled all the classes up for years due to 9/11 house cleaning of Arabic speaking non-US citizen agents. The only major religions texts I haven't read are on Buddhism and Judaism. I'm not pro any religion over another and I respect all their views - mine just differ drastically.

If religion helps you be a better member of society I'm all for that.
When people take up arms in the name of religion (I don't care which one) I'm against it. I'm also anti atheism when it's used in a manner like Stalin and Tito used it.
When my tax dollars are wasted on what I consider to be stupid lawsuits over church/state it also pisses me off.
I don't care what color you are, who you screw, or what god you worship behind closed doors ~ just don't forget the past because it's bound to repeat itself if we do.

My protest is here, no clue about the news.... I don't watch it. Personally I'm against any use of tax payer funds to support billionaires stadiums and their teams. It's sickening what we the taxpayers get roped into paying for these sports.

I think it's very similar to states fighting for companies to move into their state. One state drops it's pants then the next state lowers more... it's a race to the bottom to give them tax incentives and funds for training labor.

As a country we shouldn't be held hostage by these crooks. It kinda goes against my feelings on states rights, but I feel it's good business and good for the citizens to stand up and stop letting the sports teams blackmail us.

Having a Masters in business and having owned a number of businesses, I am with you with some exceptions. There is a direct connection to policy and economic forces. They do have to be balanced and supported within all economic levels. It's a delicate balance. A stadium will provide a lot of economic force. Who has to pay or repay the cost is something that needs to be considered. Personally I can't stand the entertainment business but it does create the a need for a lot of things to change hands from Glass Panels to tacos with a side of beans.

Very true. I forget the local value of having a playoff football game in Philly, but I think it was in the millions in terms of added income.

I still want my tax dollars out of it as much as possible. Went to see the Flyers play the NY Rangers on black Friday. 1pm game. Our tickets were $133 per seat and there were 4 of us. Tack on a few beers and we spent almost $700 between the 4 of us and thats without eating anything.

Luckily it all went on my CC and got expensed because I was taking out clients for work, but regardless thats a ton of scratch for 3hrs worth of entertainment....and our seats were not on the ice. We were 6 rows back.

If their lives mattered so much then why do they keep killing each other? I'm just guessing there are 25 black on black shootings each day in Chicago.
