While I agree with the idea of standing up to an opposing force; you would be amazed how few cultures in the world believe that. I had buddies that had to train the Iraqi Army and they all complained that it was just not in those guys' nature to run towards gun fire. They all agreed that this is the biggest difference and has been the largest hurdle in getting the Iraq and Afghan locals to take over their own security operations. Not all cultures believe in standing against an opposing force.

As for 72 virgins - hard pass. I'll take 72 sluts that know what they are doing any day of the week.

Guess thats why they have been in continual conflict for thousands of years. In that case, pull out and let them keep at it for another thousand years. I'm tired of seeing Americans taking on the burden of trying to police the world.

It really is weird. Even when I was in Iraq the insurgents were much more willing to kill an entire neighborhood of sleeping people than actually get into a gun fight with a real military force. As for pulling out; only if we glass the shitholes on our way out.

Discrimination based on religion, if you did not see that you should look again. Yes, I am aware that it only applies to citizens but he was banning citizens that happened to be out of the country and in certain other countries. I would like to think that you believe that a citizen of the United States does not lose their protected rights just because they are on vacation or doing business out of the country "those ALREADY IN the country". Your rights as a US citizen do not vanish when you cross a border.
Wrong AGAIN, why don't you actually read the executive order and not just spout off what you hear from others? There is NO DISCRIMINATION OF RELIGION, the words MUSLIM & ISLAM aren't even in the document. The word RELIGION is only used in the context of protecting the United States from individuals who persecute "those who practice religions (different from their own) or those who would oppress Americans of any race" and the fact that refugees must disclose their religion and prove that they are being persecuted for that religion and that their religion is a minority in the country they are fleeing (standard refugee practice).

And he was NOT banning CITIZENS of the US "on vacation." The Executive Order only applies to non-US citizens...so show me where one of the 109 people detained was a US citizen "that happened to be out of the country and in certain other countries."

I'm all for healthy discussion but if you're just going to regurgitate what you hear and not what you have researched and read then stop wasting my time by making garbage claims.

That's sad on many levels. Leads me to think it's time to GTFO of there. If they don't have a shred of patriotism or pride we are wasting our resources trying to instill it in them. An outside force is not going to be able to accomplish changing their hearts and minds especially one thats mostly from a country of a different religion they look down upon.

Not a thing wrong with that at all. I totally agree. Though possible, I just do not see a 4 year old refugee going into a school as a suicide bomber when they are just trying to survive. Now I know, as I stated, it is possible, I just see it unlikely.

I would view it as banning all Christians from going to a church of their choosing that has other races in it due to the crazy kid that murdered the members of the AA church. A punishing of all for the actions of a few type deal. I think that is a reasonable standpoint.

Think again, the Iraqi that work for me told me from the first day of school, death to merica and death to Jews/Christian's was indoctrinated into them the whole time they were in school, he also told me many other Muslim countries also do the same.

By the age 5 or 6, children all ready know what racism is and they don't forget it.

How about a 2002 left newspaper, The Washington Post revealed that one such school outside Washington, D.C., uses textbooks teaching 11th graders that "the Day of Judgment can't come until Jesus Christ returns to Earth, breaks the cross and converts everyone to Islam, and until Muslims start attacking Jews."

I'd rather not take the risk. Granted I should also be afraid of lightning strikes and winning the lottery. But some I'll hedge bets against.. like I don't stand in thunderstorm with a metal rod in my hand and I would prefer my immigrants be properly vetted. But I don't play the lottery either... its just a tax on people bad at math.

Calm down dude. That is why we talk about this shit. Obviously we can both read equally biased sources or "alternate facts". I'll leave it alone anyways. This thread is incapable of seeing another's perspective so it is pointless anyways. Let me know when the first of one you dies from a terrorist attack lol.

There was no perspective, you didn't obviously read directly from the source.

So you assume that what a 3.5 year old is taught is how they will act when they are capable of their own ideas an actions? Course that has proved true with this whole "everyone is a winner" crap that ya'll instill upon your children. Kids are not special until they do something special, aside from physical some physical defects, anyone can make a kid. Heads up, people change over time.

Oh I don't instill that shit on my kids. They work for everything they get. I guess I'm older than most though and I was beat as a kid and find it to be a good motivational source.

In that case you should never leave your home again. Much higher chances of dying by car accident, plane accident, chocking, than a terrorist attack.
Now I just pulled that for fun. No one needs to go on and on about sources. I am simply stating that terrorist death are way less likely than self caused or regular occurrence deaths.

Again.. don't really try and push the envelope so whats the harm in protecting America? Right now, today, those facts are facts. What about tomorrow... or in 10 years? Looks at Europe.. seems there is a terrorist event once a month. I really don't want to deal with that crap. I say lets check on who we let in. I don't see the harm in LEGAL immigration.

Thank god. It is so annoying to hear people talk about how great their kid is when they have done nothing to prove that. Kudos to you Sean lol

So there is a kid down the street and he was on my daughters soccer team a few years ago. Kid was a shitbag.. would stop playing and sit on the field, throw his little chair onto the field after the game ala Bobby Knight, kick over water bottles... just a turd. Parents not much better, very nice home, nice cars... when these things happened the parents could care less. NEVER said stop or get over here... nothing. Well at the end of the season the coach handed out all the trophies. Kid down the street never showed up to get his. Coach gives his to me because he knows he is a neighbor. I threw it in the trash.

Edit: I realized that last comment may be insensitive. I ask for notification so I can attend your funeral and go up to the casket and say Booyaa before I bang your wife.
I wasn't uncalm (is that a word?). I'm not reading alternate facts or a biased source, I read the actual text of the order. People can interpret or place their own biases or opinions on what the intention; the facts are that those 7 countries all support terrorism.

I enjoy talking about these things and am fully capable of seeing things from different perspectives. I just hold tight to what I believe is the truth, much like you are doing. But I won't be persuaded by half truths and false interpretations (aka "garbage claims").

No harm no foul

No worries, emotions get lost in text. I figured all the caps were used in substitution of an aroused emotional state. I pose two questions which I believe are not emotional.

Now terrorism is by definition "the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims". I would say that America now, because trump is pro-torture ( though he cooled his jets after his talks with Mathis), supports terrorism too. To me torturing someone would be considered a terrorist act. Now that is just personal opinion. Every country will support what it wants and thinks is for the betterment of itself. They of course never call it terrorism, they just call it doing what is right. Questions posed. 1. Would you consider torture a terrorist act and 2. If you did, would you still consider it a terrorist act if it was reinstated? These are the things I wonder. I just always see politicians and many people throwing stones in glass houses.

This is not at all saying that I am agreeing with terrorism of any country or person. I think it is all fucked up.
I realize you have used the 'official' definition of terrorism, which I think is too broad and isn't the definition an "average American" thinks when talking about terrorism today. But basing my response off the parameter of the definition supplied, here are my answers:

1) I absolutely would consider torture of an enemy for information an act of terrorism

2) I don't understand this question, are you asking if torture would be a terrorist act if the Geneva Conventions were void? Because if that is your premise then it would not be an act of terrorism because the Geneva Conventions are what make torture a violation of international law. So if they were lifted then it would no longer be "the unlawful use of violence..."

I think I understand the implied question (and correct me if I am off base) and so I will also reply outside of the context of your definition. I think that if we torture anyone and it is unlawful then it is a war crime and should be prosecuted as such. EVEN IF the information led to the capture or prevention of terrorist or acts of terror. The law is the law and if you break it you are subject to the judicial process.

Here is a hypothetical: Say you are drunk and your completely sober friend is driving you home when he/she suddenly starts having a seizure. Do you hop behind the wheel and drive them to a hospital? OR do you wait for an ambulance? If you drive you will be charged for DWI but your friend will live. If you wait for an ambulance your friend will die but you followed the law.

*CAPITALIZATION used for emphasis...not emotion;)
