So you want to be surrounded by like minded individuals? Ive always found that to be boring. Ive always been the guy who never gets "grouped" into one click or another. I was always the guy bouncing around between them.
IMHO there is nothing like a good educated debate discussing opposing views to get your mind working and blood flowing. Kind of like chess with no board or pieces.

Ive found this strategy to be also very fruitful in my career. Being on both sides of construction I can empathize with my customers like none of my competitors can. Ive also gained immense knowledge & wisdom from being on both sides (subcontractor/manufacturer). Socially this can be tricky - last thing anyone wants around the campfire is uneducated political rants, but thats why I camp and travel with different groups of people with different perspectives.

Also probably the only reason I can remain slightly sane while being stuck in this liberal region.

I have more than my fair share of liberals in my life.

I find it funny that you want to have a civilized conversation and got mad at @TacoXpo for personal attacks but you've resorted to the same. I've been respectful in all my posts and only stated facts without being overly antagonistic or sarcastic. Its obvious to me that we aren't going to see eye to eye on this. We have very different world views, and put our trust in different ideals. I'm going to move on.

I did not mean to offend you, it was made as a general comment (hence only including myself in it rather than anyone else specifically) but I can see it being taken personally.
We certainly do have different views and will not see eye to eye but that is ok. I am trying to gather an understanding of the other side because I cannot personally see where it comes from. That is what I do when I do not know something, I try to educate myself on it.
Anyways, any comment on the second part of my comment? Read the opinion? You of course do not have to. I just ask again because I am trying to learn why the right believes what they do against the opinion of the judges. Kinda like me telling a rig worker that he is doing his job wrong when I have no idea how to do rig work nor have I ever looked into it. My under-grad degree is psychology so I am always fascinated by the way that minds work.

In my honest opinion you will not be able to see things "from the other side." I've tried, you have too many biases (myself included). And while I understand your rig worker comparison, I also don't think you have to be an "expert" in order to speak with authority. I don't need a 7 yr degree to know bullshit when I hear it. Especially in the internet age where I can easily do research...hell, I can research things on my phone on the fly these days. The point being, I do think I could go tell a rig worker he is doing his job wrong. What if he sucks at his job? I see a problem, research a solution, and go tell him how to fix it.

So I won't read the opinion by the judges, because those judges aren't good at their jobs. That circuit has an 80% turnover on their opinions. If 80% of the tax returns I worked on needed correction I wouldn't expect people to trust me on tax matters.

We started the conversation on the constitutionality of the EO, after the halt was stayed you used the opinion as fact in your argument, but I don't accept their opinion as fact. Especially when I continually provided evidence that the EO itself was constitutional.

I don't consider myself a "staunch conservative" or a "Progressive liberal" or even a democrat or republican. I vote my faith first (I'm against abortion), my ideals second (I support the 2nd Amendment), and what makes sense to me third (the rising tide of fundamentally extreme Islamists needs to be halted). My ideals have changed since I've gotten older, had kids, and started paying taxes instead of getting refunds.
