Our union is hurting for labor so badly they are allowing scabs to work the jobsites shoulder to shoulder with the union guys. All I need to do is call the hall and get approval.
I'm amazed that there are not enough American men let alone any women in the pool for me to hire. I could use a good 5-10 men right now for the next two months easily. Guess the six figure salary with a great pension, some of the best health benefits I have ever seen, steady work, hrs of 7am-3pm, aren't enough to entice the American youth anymore. We need to get this immigration stuff figured out ASAP if we refuse to teach our youth a hard days work is also a good way to live. I mainly blame the US parents who always want their kids to have it better then them. At some point it's not a bad idea to regress and let the kids understand their parents money is not finite and hard work can provide a good living. We created our own mess for brainwashing the kids into thinking acquiring debt to go to college to get an party degree...I mean art...... is superior to getting paid to attend a vocational college while working with your brain & hands. /rant....

Just had the rest of the windows in my house replaced yesterday. Crew of 3 ruskies did the install. Got to talking to them as they finished up. All 3 of them are living the American dream. The one I was talking got political asylum. Really insirping to hear these guys story about coming here just a couple hundred dollars, never accepting a penny of gov money, and making something of themselves. I'd trade 1000 good immigrants for 1000 of the lazy entitled brats we are currently raising. If we can't teach our youth to be successful and what a hard day's work is we will have no choice but to keep importing labor. It wouldn't surprise me if in the 20-30 years natural born Americans are much poorer than immigrants.

I'm assuming all that based on your location and the low salaries in TX. Salary for me 20+ years ago when I was a green rookie with no knowledge was $22 per hr in the NE. As of yesterdays job postings in DFW for glass warehouse workers.... $10-$12 an hr
Job OpportunitiesSame low salary and hot weather was why I'm not managing a glass shop down there now. Got an offer, but it was laughable. Almost all the major glass & aluminum manufacturers are moving their labor forces down there to save labor $$$.
No idea how your cost of living is, but 6 figures doesn't go far up here.....but is still FAR better than the 50k McDonalds night manager jobs kids out of college are working while they try to pay off 200k in college debt.

The last "average lifestyle" for DFW article I read said that a household income would have to be at least $65k /yr to buy a moderate starter home in the average neighborhoods. That is one reason people who can afford to commute live 45 mins to an hour away from the DFW area and commute. The average household income in my area is around $45k /yr so it does not take a lot to live comfortable. That said - around the lake and the new subdivisions going in are all raising the cost of living a lot around here.
The last "average lifestyle" for DFW article I read said that a household income would have to be at least $65k /yr to buy a moderate starter home in the average neighborhoods. That is one reason people who can afford to commute live 45 mins to an hour away from the DFW area and commute. The average household income in my area is around $45k /yr so it does not take a lot to live comfortable. Dang...I just looked up my county and median household income is 61k.....now you have to remember in my county has one of the worst little cities in our country (Camden) so that lowers it allot. Must be a ton of people in poverty around here if they make those wages. College kids at my old job were starting w/no experience in office jobs at 60k w/3 weeks paid vacation, 4% @ 100% match 401k, OK beni's, large end of year bonus for them @ 3-10k. Of course we pay thousand for car insurance and property taxes are always way above 6k so long as your not living in a total slum. My house is a crap hole in a crappy hood and I'm paying 7k+.

Mine is 78k for median income, poverty is at 6.9%... median home value is lower than I expected at $183k. But I bet 80% of the people who live here and work, commute elsewhere for employment.

North Texas is over flowing with people retiring from your area. They are selling out and moving here and walking with a stack of cash. My sammich maker's grandfather did that when he sold a couple rent houses and moved to Oklahoma.

Debt. Massive amounts of debt. IMHO we are a nation of people who make nothing but debt and war. Our focus is fubar. America needs to roll up it's sleeves and get back int he fight. Horrible education systems, horrible healthcare, goberment run by for profit lifetime "appointed" schmucks. Not what the founding fathers envisioned I can only assume. I still love it, but I'm not blind either. Think we could all do better.
Highest in terms of % taxed or total payment value? I like using the per 10k comparison or %. Keeps the data comperable. My buddy from Long Island always says his area has the highest taxes in the nation, but Ive never seen any actual data and the median values for the homes up there are 10X that of my town. Our houses are worthless, but we are taxed a shit ton. My town was 5.069% in 2017.
