What have you done to someone else's ride lately?

Also. Spot welds suck. Spent an hour cutting out spot welds with a carbide spot welds cutter. Him and I. Made a small dent in the number of them and we haven't even started on the wrecked truck. It will be the nightmare part!!

If your carefully you can torch em out with the plasma but one slip up and you've got big problems to deal with

I tried a few with the plasma, I can do it.. but them we have to clean them up afterwards. Its 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Made the final cuts on the A-pillars tonight. This week we hope to make final cuts along the back part of the cab seams. It's going smooth so far. But the next part will be the hardest. Make them match up. :). We kept all the shit we cut out so we can patch should we have mis-measured or rather had too many beers before cutting.

Donor cab is almost completely ready. Need to make the final cut on the passenger side but I first need to cut out the temp support brace and retack it further back. We've also got the truck cut up and spot welds cut out. Friday we have a guy coming out to pull the front glass, then we'll cut the a-pillars and make the last cuts. It's already cut behind the drivers seat but not all the way across. This weekend we hope to have it all cut off and the new section tacked back in place.

You do some nice work. I do look forward to the future carnage pic when that 90° skid hits the right rock though. :)

All of skid rows first gen skids that I have seen have that horrible angle. No brakes needed - just seat belts so you don't superman out the windshield

No going back now. LOL

Tomorrow we install new door bushings and line up the rear cab mounts. It's very close. So once that's done we can do final alignments and start welding it back together. But it's pretty damn close. Talk about the plan 100 times... measure 20 times... Cut once. So far so good. Glad we are this in the neighbors garage though. :)

I bet the HOA would be rather entertained if it was in the driveway or better yet on the front lawn. :)

Yeah. We left the old cab in two pieces in his driveway. I'll take the plasma tomorrow and blow it into several bite size chunks (trash can size) tomorrow.

Knowing you, the alignment would ne better than my friends panel alignment on that Ferrari that IRS guy wrapped atound a tree. It was so sad to see that thing before it went to auction... I wonder what the final sucker paid for it. Its probably somewhere in the UAE.

Or take it to one of those neighborhoods where you put it out on the curb and before you turn the truck around its strapped about 15 feet high on a 20r powered hilux with a flat bed and cyclone fencing as the stakesides.

Wow. Well for something like that I might take it to a body shop. :). That's fucked up though.

Yeah... if they only took a little more time, I think they could jave made it perfect. I can see the guy that worked on it grabbing me like Karem Abdul Jabar saying, "You try to straighten out a handmade carbon fiber car..." IIRC he said something very similar to me. :)

It's supposed to rain like hell this weekend. So I may cave in and finish this in my garage so I have room to take off the cab and work on shit. I had to pull out my phone to look at the cab mounts from the bottom. No light. So I think we need to bring this over here so we can finish sooner and be done.

That being said. If it's hailing. It's going outside so my toys can come inside. :)

Cab mount bolts are in. All the doors line up. Have one issue with the donor cabs third door mounts. It was in a wreck and the hinges where jacked. I heated them up and bent them up straight but the top ones also need to be bent forward about 1/8". So that's tomorrow's project. Front glass lines up. Everything shuts and opens just fine. But that 3rd door is tight at the top. So I'll pie cut it and once it's all lined up I'll weld the cut back. It's looking like this is a possibility. :) I'm done for today. Got plans this evening.

That's Mr Asshole to you
@Silverback you are a much better neighbor than I am. I had to talk myself into helping(doing it while he watched) mine change the rear brake pads on his Murano.

I bet Sean felt more accomplished ;)
