What have you done to someone else's ride lately?

How bad was the install? The fuel gauge read close to normal or just good for full and empty?

@Silverback go ahead and get a drool rag.

Install was about 5 hours start to finish. The empty light now comes on with about 8 gallons left in the tank, the sending unit remains pretty accurate though the range.

One thing I can advise you on is DO NOT mix up the supply and return hose, they are the same size so it's really easy to do. Mark them with tape or something, otherwise you will be dropping the tank twice

The mounting system is a pain in the ass, not much room to access bolts, but we got it done eventually. The tank is steel and awkward to fit into the space between the leaf springs and the muffler you have to do some finagling to work it into place. You also have to trim the leaf spring hanger bolt since it comes to close

Thats exactly what I want to do to mine. My gauge is off and has been for some time.. figure if I have to drop the tank or pull the bed to replace it.. I'm getting a bigger tank.

He does have the gayest license plate though... he lose a bet?

From what I could tell the sending unit should be able to be replaced fairly easy once the pump assembly is out. An not sure on the license plate but maybe lol

Yeah until you see the price tag to import one of these from Down Under...and then you'll reconsider lol

Theres a stateside supplier. Still have to pay import cost but they do it in bulk so it's not as bad. Think a tank from them runs around $1600 IIRC.

Wonder why. Guessing either Toyota routed something different or they have never tried to fit it in a long bed and cant confirm fitment.

By now Im sure someone has ~ that tanks been out on the market for a long time now. Think I saw it 5+ years ago.

Yeah. And it looks like it's a replacement tank. I thought it was an auxiliary. Dont know if the price tag is worth only an extra 12 gallons. I thought it was adding a 34 gallon auxiliary tank like the 120 platform.

$1,600+ 5hrs install to carry 12 extra gallons is a bit of a stretch, but players gonna play lol

& haters gonna hate lol

Yeah it's probably not. It would get me an extra 200 miles per tank. So I could go a ~550 miles on one tank of gas.

The frame is a bit longer to accommodate the extra foot of the long bed. I'm sure you could weld a plate extension on it without any issues.

Have not seen how much material has to be removed for the 3rd gen chop. How far back did you have to cut?

Damn I want/need a lift.

I always seem to have more pride when I get tasks done without a ton of resources. Guess the harder the task the bigger pat on the back I give myself.

Reminds me of these little guys trying to make a living
