What have you done to your ride lately?

Put in some more work this weekend. Doesnt look like much, but it was a lot.

1. Tore down the old axle for its parts.
2. Fully welded out the front axle.
3. Tried to install the gears in the new housing using the same bearings and shims. Well i couldnt get that lucky, so I took it to a local mechanic and wheeler to have him setup the gears correctly. I dont have a press yet so doing diff work would have been challenging.
4. Installed the Improved Racing baffling in the f-body oil pan and installed on engine.
5. Welded out my driveshafts and painted them. Ill get them installed today.
6. Welded out the rear end and boxed in the bump pads. Painted it as well.
7. painted all 8 links
8. installed the rear end and squared it up.

New baffle. Hope it keeps the oil pressure in check.

I hope to get the front end back later this week then i can get it painted and rebuilt with new kingpins/seals/etc. Should be a complete roller by the end of the week.

I don't say this to all the guys... but that ass is sexy! Now I'm sure someone will disagree in that I don't say it to all the guys. They are jealous.

I'm more concerned about it bending than getting shot by a pistol round.

Well that is one way to test the product. I am not real sure what it has to do with legit use of the product.

Update: skid will be here Monday.

A little light repair - my crabbing caused me to catch a wall while I was going through a canyon.

Had to de-pin connector. Probably would have picked up a new sub Assy harness but "have to" roll out to the desert tonight.

Oh I know it doesn't look like I needed to de-pin but the wire was too short. The reason you see the oem colors going into the connector was because I wanted to keep it stock.

Did some more work this weekend. Fully welded and rebuilt the front axle with new seals and a new RuffStuff diff cover.

All painted up






And installed.




And we have a roller again.


Did some prep work to the cab and got the inside painted black. Outside will be similar to my last build. Blue with a black top. On a side note, I need to buy stock in the adhesive Toyota used as it took a cup brush on an angle grinder to remove it.


Next up drivers door bar, then i can get the cab on and start the floor panels and interior.

Done. My deadline is the April 23rd weekend for the Wolf Caves Crawl magazine shoot. Its definitely will be at the Jambo.

Skid is in. Now to bolt it on today. Once it is on I am going to measure for bracing.

Will have better pics when I get home. Current plan is to gusset between the front and the brace for the middle. Then run a reinforcement bar from front to back.

Interesting design. Front looks strong. Back not so much, but none that I have seen are unless they were totally custom made.

I'd brace it for sure. In the back where all the steel ones bend you just have flat aluminum.

$30 in aluminum and a few well placed dimples should make it a lot tougher without gaining too much weight.
