Forgot what it's like driving an older vehicle that needs constant attention. Time for a new brake light switch. Luckily they're only $30 on RockAuto.

Almost like women, good thing mine is a couple years younger than me.

That's why I upgraded about 14 years ago. Had I dated her when I was in college, I would have been changing her diapers. lol

Good thing you didn't buy a Landie! lol

Finally got a chance to use all 4 of those big ass 10 ton jack stands I have.. the ones that go up to 46" tall. :) I jacked up the truck, set the rear bumper on those 4 jacks (two in the back and one on each side). Undid the mounting bolts, jacked the truck up higher and cut off the sides of the quarterpanels that I did not cut up high enough when I mounted the bumper the first time. Lowered it back down and back into place. Worked awesome. Also found some (4) stripped out bolts holding the bumper on (bummer) so I went out to Lowes and bought some 1/2 grade 8 hardware, drilled the holes out to 1/2" and got them tightened up. Did not take pics as I was busy.. needed to get it done tonight.

Here is a pic of the jackstands.

You are so right... they were a bit of a spur purchase. I hope my kids can use them when I am gone. A lift, yes it would make life easier... my buddy keeps trying to talk me into one. I am more interested in some AC for the garage. But alas putting in a pool reduces those odds for a few years.

If you pass before me I will make sure that me and your 5 other wheel chair bound paw-bearers use them at a half-way point so that we can rest.

Picking up my brake light switch after work tonight. Going to change it out and disconnect the battery. I'll hook it back up in the morning before school. If the ABS light doesn't come.back on instantly I'll drive it to school and see if it comes back on.

You may to do that reset by jumping pins obd I read that the other day looking at that abs light problem you had, on the other forums.

Yeah I saw that as well. I'll try that if disconnecting the battery doesn't reset it.

When a tree rat chewed my wires, I had warning light issues, wheel sensor and the 2 wires to the brake resivor were chewed.
I had to jump two of the pins together and then drive it, I did the battery reset like 3 times, and that never worked.

I had to do something similar with my Taco, and codes dropped after I dove it about a mile, so keep that in mind.

x3 I just replaced a front sensor, there are two pins you jump to put it in diagnostic mode, but my light stayed on even after it was fixed (no code). I had to drive around a bit for it to turn off.

The ABS and wheel sensors are dependent on each other, yes of course

Put the new brake light switch in. And got the very last of the suspension pieces I need including some sexy new grade 9 hardware. So it's going to the shop tomorrow if I get out of school early enough. If not, Saturday morning. Glad to finally get this stuff on. Factory suspension is getting worse by the day. And I'm pretty sure I have no bushings left in the stock shocks.

Any warning lights now?

There was still a light after changing the switch. So I unhooked the battery. I'll hook it back up in the morning and drive to school. If it doesn't go off, I'll jumper the OBD port and see if that works for the drive back home.
