Just get a good welding blanket since welding next to a gas tank. #safetybitches

I have some welding blankets we can put around everything to keep it safe(er). But I would spend more time getting my welder setup in his garage then I would spend welding that in there. Overall not a hard project. @tex so when are we knocking this out?

If @taco4x4rar can cut your old Tacoma I am sure I can weld on your 4Runner.

Safety?? You mean leave the gas door open and spray some flammable solvents next to the welds to keep them clean

Bingo

So tonight I removed the rack mount that I built for my old rack from the bottom of the RTT and put on the new rack's cross bars. I will see in the morning how well the connect and work. Overall the swap probably dropped 5-7 lbs of weight but I am hoping it was not at the expense of anything.

We will see I guess.

That's a Lotta work for a 30 seconds of welding lol. Sounds like something I would do in shorts and a pair a crocs

So I finally got to the "mount RTT" part of my trip prep. I thought the backyard was dry enough to mount it like normal. I was pretty wrong on that and ended up using the Tred boards to get out. The only real take away is the Treds work and I now hate the Rock Mountain Matterhorn roof rack. The good news is this time next week I will be sitting around a camp fire in Big Bend Ranch State Park enjoying the weather and solitude.

While I was loading up for Big Bend tomorrow I had an idea on how to keep some of the loose items up out of the way and secured. A simple small string loop around the metal arm under the catch for the cargo cover. Overall it works pretty good but the bungee cord seems a little weak for a good restraint; I will have to keep working on that part. Maybe a shorter bungee.

I have 4 nets like these in my Subaru and love them. You could replace the bungee on top of them with an Amsteel whoopie sling and it won't move in an accident so long as the mounts are strong. You could still tighten it down and loosen it with by hand with no hardware.

I thought the sbr mount was going there?

Sbr is behind the driver seat. Lean driver seat forward, pull out negotiation stick, start talking.

Since it's behind your seat, your sandwich maker has an advantage to retrieve it quicker, while your emptying out your pistol magizine, that makes sense. :D

Great idea for the bungee. Springtail makes some MOLLE panels that may help for side mounted tie downs. They have one that is 10.5 inches x 19 inches or one that is 8 inches x 6 inches.

I'm running one of their large panels with one of their large STAT pouches and have room for my SEAL pup and a battery powered LED light and store a 4 way lug wrench between it and the side panel. I'm thinking about picking up a couple of the smaller ones for the console and a seat back MOLLE panel or a rear door folding MOLLE rack.

The bungee worked great the whole trip. So I am going to move forward with some other ideas for there. @Mitt78 some MOLLE panel would be pretty slick right there. I just have to make sure it is reinforced right. Thanks for the idea.

I'm planning to sell my old car soon and today I made an inspection of a vehicle’s mechanical and structural condition and appearance. I asked for help independent vehicle inspection specialists from VINZ service in Auckland, NZ. They did all work at affordable price. I think PPI can give a buyer greater confidence to commit a purchase.
