What have you done to your ride lately?

Might have made a mistake... I unloaded the 6 tires by myself just a moment ago. Something doesn't feel right. Maybe I should have listened to the Dr. But they are unloaded. Need to take some pics of the old ones and put them on FB Marketplace.

Is the trailer not road worthy currently? If you pull the whole trailer up there, they'll pull the wheels and tires, mount the new ones, and reinstall everything for you. I know you'd still have to unload the old ones but it would have saved a bit of trouble. I've done it with the boat trailer a couple of times.

Its road worthy, I just didn't want to move a bunch of crap to get it out.

This clock spring was bad. My horn only worked when the steering wheel was turned to the left.

So I replaced it.

Notice that the mark on the nut doesn't line up. Several online posts and YouTube pros say that the torque on that nut is 37 ft lbs, so that's what I went with. However, it felt like it was on there much tighter than that when I removed it. I had to use a harmonic balancer puller (en lieu of a steering wheel puller) to get the steering wheel off, so I don't think there is too much pressure applied to that nut anyway. Just interesting the difference.

Tested the horn and radio controls. Also tested that I could engage cruise control, but haven't actually tested the CC itself. I imagine if the button registers that it has been pressed, the other buttons will work as well.

In fact, pressing the air bag back in pretty much requires you to press the horn. Until I figured out that I had to pull the little plastic tabs out from the side and get one side in at a time, I tested the horn multiple times. I'm sure the neighbors thought I was durnk.

So my 4Runner's engine battery has been getting weaker and weaker for the last few months. But with my travel and good weather when I was home (so I rode the motorcycle) it was an inconvenience since I could use the accessory battery to jump the 4Runner. This morning I finally had enough of it so I bought a new battery. Dang the prices have jumped. The old Exceed battery lasted me 5.5 years. This new O'Reilly's battery is only warrantied for 3 years.

But at least I do not have to jump it off with bad weather around the corner.

I'm pretty sure a new battery is in the very near future for my Tacoma. This one feels like it struggles to start at times.

Drove the Laundry Fairys LX for round trip to Pflugerville yesterday, took the 85mph 130 toll, first time I really opened it up, avg. 16.5mpg averaging/drive 10 over at 2.5k rpms and really impressed how smooth it was at the higher speeds.

That is the bad thing. My old battery would pass a load test at normal temps two months ago. But a cooler morning or hot afternoon and it would not start the 4Runner

yes that’s true the load test at ambient temp won’t be the same so that’s def something to consider.

When I take a battery in, I usually ask them to load test 3 or 4 times, if it didn't fail the initial test.

I've got a portable jump starter that I made sure was charged. Also, a set of jumper cables. I'll just replace it when it fails to start the truck

I have a Noco jump box for the taco. I like it. I looked into getting one for the Ferd, the one I need is $300!! Nope. Gonna risk it. lol

I will admit I was pretty lazy just using the 2nd battery to jump it. My sammich maker kept trying to jinx me saying the next time I had to jump it would be during heavy rain.

It hasn't seemed to struggle the last several times. I very well may go by and have it load tested. I drive so infrequently now that I'm not overly concerned about it.

Changed the oil in it. This new 7.3 gasser is super easy to do. Drain plug is where it should be and the oil filter is right next to it with plenty of room to get a filter wrench on it. Went back with all Fomoco stuff like usual.

Put some aggressive oversized tires, about a half ton of armor, bumpers, gas cans, a winch and an RTT and you might 'cure' that. I want one bad. My sammy maker tells me all the time, just go get one. Not sure why I don't listen to her. Oh wait. It may be all the other things she says! lol j/k

I am certain that you have heard my story but I once ran a company that makes OEM 'coolers' for Class 8 trucks, cars, construction and ag equipment and after seeing coolers with a million miles that look new on the inside, I will never run anything other than full synthetic. :)

I do in all my buses/transits, but thats what's suggested by factory just like this one. I have to run what's recommended for warranty.
