...and I for one, would love to see those ViceGrips stay permanently! :)

As much as I would appreciate the versatility of the vice grips; they were replaced with proper 1/4-2o bolts.

Nice, curious to see if you notice any changes.

I took it out for the initial test drive tonight with good success. My sammich maker said she did not notice the material for the RTT cover moving much, there was some wind noise from the sides but it was less than the tires, and it did not make a negative impact when driving into a head wind. So it will keep it on as is for the rest of the week and see what happens.

Are you going to be able to zip it without cutting your hand?

Yes - going to put some edge protector on it once final paint is done. Plus the zipper is pretty easy to pull in that area and has a pull string.

If they want it that bad they are damn sure going to work for it. The longer they take to steal it the better my odds are of introducing them to my Springfield.

I've thought about replacing some of the hardware on the Prinsu rack with some tamper-resistant hardware when I put the tent on. I'll probably do it. Won't take all of 15 minutes to change out the hardware, it's just a bunch of 1/4-20s. Something like these, probably:

That is where I ordered mine. Everyone who has noticed them has commented they have not seen a screwdriver for them. I just laugh and say that is the idea.

I love McMaster. At previous jobs, I spent about $500/mo there on average.

Pretty productive weekend overall; but still a bit to go before Arkansas. I ended up having to move the wind fairing forward about 2" but it appears to be a bit better for overall aerodynamics so it is a win/win. I did manage to get wires pulled and terminated for full time power to the cargo area for the fridge and USB devices. The biggest issue this weekend was rebuilding the locker actuator. The rebuild process is not horrible; but the tiny brass colored springs that go with the armature are a b#$%# when they pop out. I had to find them twice; but my garage is a bit cleaner now. Rear locker works great; but I do want to look at wiring the switch status light into the locker sensor to show me if it is engaged or not.

So the list stands today at:

2- Resolve power steering fluid leak
4- Build cargo storage/ drawer
5- Fridge slide out
7 - Dual battery setup
13- Camp Box build
14- Oil, s/c oil, and Spark Plug change (will change diffs and transfer case when I get back)

Done:
1 - Front axle swap to 4.30 gears
9 - New rotors and pads
6 - Battery box
14 - tablet holder mount
3- Install auto transmission shift kit/ new solenoids
10 - Shocks
11 - Outer tie rods
8- Wind fairing for RTT
12- E-locker actuator rebuild

And some pictures; because who does not like pictures? Once I confirm I like the setup of the fairing this time I will go back and make it look better in the bracing and paint.

I had to rebuild my elocker actuator once... fixed it and then sent that POS down the road. Best upgrade eva'... kudo's to @TacoXpo for doing the ground work for me.

Now blow up that 8.4 so you can upgrade to a Tundra 10.5" axle and long travel up front to match the track width of the Tundra axle. You owe @TacoXpo the ground work on this one before he decides to go full long travel some day.

I exploded it one time going 65 mph down the highway. I don't trust them.

Knock on wood that won't happen. But if I am going LT up front to match a Tundra 10.5".. I'm going whole hog with solid axle and 60's.

8.4/ARB really did work well. That eLocker sucked and the Mfgr of our trucks knew it. Don't ask me how I know.

Glad I do not drive 65 mph very often. I usually just drive 75 or 80.
lol - The cracks started way before that. That's just when it when boom. Without that Iron Truss holding the backlash somewhat constant, the 8.4 would probably fail just as easy.

Who knows what I will do. As many flaws as the taco has, much from my riding it hard, I think I probably got the ~$50k+ it has probably cost me so far. lol I would like to upgrade to a late model 4runner but I think I have some rough riding to get out of my blood before I do that! lol

I'm rebuilding my elocker and getting a fresh setup from ECGS, I had Cryo'd 4.88's and an ARB and it blew up...this was a MUCH cheaper fix for me
