I wish there was a hybrid - allow for max travel but at the sametime get some isolation between the chassis and the control arm. I've contemplated going back to OEM lowers and just fish plate the weak points. I won't but I've contemplated many times.

I have my old LCAs I have debated doing some work to.
So there was a hold up at Prinsu for the roof rack. Apparently the first design had issues covering up part of the sunroof with the mounting feet. So they redesigned it a bit and are shipping the new design out now. I called this morning and got the info. I have tracking on the rack and awning mounts now. It should all be here by Wednesday of next week. Now I just need some dry time to install it.
Also the new wheel bearings and hubs arrived today; so that will be queued up asap. Now just the shocks...

Once I get the Kings under it I want to hit up either Hidden Falls or Gilmer for a weekend to test everything out.
Now I just need off work so I can install it.
So they say bad news comes in 3s...
1st - front passenger bearing was bad. It is not replaced but was a bit of an ordeal with the local stealership.
2nd - rear axle seal is blown on the passenger side. So that is going to be fun and it needs to be replaced pretty quick. I will keep an eye on the gear oil level; thankfully I am not driving it much this month. Hard to complain at 340,000 miles though.
3rd - found a rusty screw in the rear driver side tire. I tried to pop it out by hand but it is pretty wedged in there. No clue when I picked it but I am glad I found it now.
Now I need to get my roof rack installed so I have a little work space in my garage for the rest of these problems. Also my new bushings for the control links on the rear axle arrived today. I will work on those later this week. They should be a simple afternoon job.

Considering I am working from home for the next month there is a good chance it will not leave the driveway more than a couple times before it get replaced.
Leaving this here so I can find it later next week. Time to replace some axle bearings and seals. At least now I will have the tool to do it on most of the rigs I own. A few adapters and it will cover almost all Toyotas.

I had mine pressed on at a machine shop for 25 each if I remember correctly.
Sadly my part of Texas is lacking in machine shops. Driving up into DFW gas/time would quickly offset a lot of the savings. Plus now I will have the tool needed to do it for any future need - which now that I will have the tool will probably never happen.

I thought I was going to take an easy day today and do some sound deadening on my 4Runner. I did some research, got some links, and talked to @italynstylion about how he did his 2nd gen Tacoma. I did not take the time involved serious enough apparently. Working inside these door panels is a real #%#$%&# and #$^^&#$. But the first door is done.
I did not get any pics of inside the door shell because it is hard to see into it. But I put a good layer of FatMat Rattletrap on the outside and then a layer of dampner on top of that. Then lined the inside of the door. The door panel got some FatMat pieces on the large open areas and dampner also. The door sounds a lot better closing it now - a much better "thud" inside of the can sound before. It is not like an old Cadillac but it sounds a lot better. Now to do the other three doors and the cargo area. For now I am focusing on the doors and cargo area. Maybe later I will strip down the inside and do all the floor pan.

I need to do this to my Tacoma. It's on the list when I'm done with stuff outside the cab. I'm going to do the floor as well as the doors and back wall. But I'm already planning to tear the carpet out and replace with vinyl anyway so it shoukdnt be much more tesr down if any to do the floor. I'd like to do the roof as well but dont really wnst to pull the headliner. So hope I'm happy with the floor and sides.
Doing the Tacoma should be a lot easier than the 4Runner; you only have 1/3 the cabin space.
