Dang... I had a gift cert for HD and still didn't buy anything. Once I open the flood gates it's hard to close them. My $150 gift cert would of turned into a 1k purchase lol

I took my personnel e-mail off my work phone. That helped a ton. Yesterday I cleared the email account from my PC and there must of been 100+ black Friday e-mails spanning 2 weeks time. Much easier to not be tempted when you don't see the e-mails.

Yep. And I've been looking at them without the funds to purchase anything. It sucks.

Work makes it easier. I used to answer my work phone 24/7 but now when I get home I park it because Ive had enough.

Since my personnel e-mails would cause me to pick it up and check it I removed the app from that phone.

Now the work phone is all work and my personal phone is what I keep in hand after work is done.

I now like a clear cut division of work and home life so this helps that. Tired of decompressing after work for a few hrs then picking up the work phone and reading a work e-mail at 8pm that pisses me off.

Ignorance is bliss and much less frustrating/stressful.

The separation of work and personal has been great with my new job. I cannot access work email on my personal and it is great. The only times I keep an eye on it after hours is when I have guys traveling. I like to keep up with them to make sure they are not getting abused when they travel.

I spent my gift certificate at HD yesterday and didn't go over the amount of the card. It was hard not getting sucked into the "deal" mentality and buying more especially with the Milwaukee sales going on. At one point I was thinking the gift card was free so if I only spent $50 out of my pocket then the rest of the stuff was technically "free". That mentality had my cart up to over $400. Then I woke up and deleted that crap from my cart and got stuff I need like 3 tape measures, a heavy duty step stool for my car (carrying around 4' ladders to measure my jobs sucks), and a Milwaukee M18 fan Ive been wanted for months.

I think if I didn't understand that my brain was rewarded with dopamine when I buy crap - I'd be much worse off. Understanding whats behind my thought process helps a ton. Now I just need to quit smoking again. Only made it 7 months last time around. Funny thing is I quit drinking and smoking at the same time. Took smoking back up but not drinking. Wish it was the other way around lol

I did not do a good job at self control last Christmas. This year has been much better; but I set myself up for it. I put together a few lists before I started the shopping and I am only buying things on the list. Then the end price has to be good enough to make me jump on it. So far I have only bought one thing that was not on my list.

I was in mental anguish over a remote start system during BF deals. They have it listed at $400, but on sale for $350. On top of that, they were doing 30% off. With shipping, my OTD cost would have been $260. It's completely plug and play and came with the long range 2-way remotes.

Best Buy pretty regularly does the 1-way remote start systems for about $250 installed on their "deal of the day," and it's another $100 to add the 2 way remote kit.

My justification was that I have to park in the driveway now that we have the expedition in the garage. Cold mornings suck in the winter and hot afternoons suck in the summer. In the end, I decided that I don't mind the cold for a few minutes while the engine warms, and I can continue to park in the shade in the summer.

I went with PowerStops a few times, never had an issue. I went with the Z36 pads though IIRC.. yellow ones.

Get the OEM rotors from Camelback or another online Toyota OEM retailer. The quality of OEM is worth the effort. I tried other rotors and it was not worth it.

Ive only ever ran OEM. A guy much smarter than me said one time - the trucks already got horribly overactive ABS - stickier pads will only make that worse.

They went back up in price today. I'll take @Anathollo 's word over 250 Amazon reviews. My gut says to stick with OEM, so I'll go that route. I am beyond underwhelmed at the Duralast ones that I have on there now. I've had them on for about 30k miles and have some wobble when I stop. I know that isn't necessarily the rotors fault as I drive with idiots every day going into downtown Atlanta. Hard braking is required. I've also done some heavy towing where I should have had a brake controller for the trailer that I was pulling. However, I'm pretty confident that my OEM stuff would have done better.

I think I've pretty much come to the conclusion that Duralast will "just work" but not be good at what it does. This seems to be the case for all of their crap.

For comparison, the OEM stuff was replaced around 118k. I took them up to O'Reillys to have them turned at 115 and put on new pads at that time. I only did that because I was at 115 and that seemed like a lot to get out of rotors. The reduction in thickness or the way they used the lathe basically made them junk and I had bad wobble at 118k. That was when I decided to replace with Duralast because they were convenient and running a promo. I'd run them in the past on other vehicles that didn't have a problem, so figured they would work.

I guess I didn't see Sean's response before I responded to Anathollo. Sill though, with the price going back up, I'll stick to OEM.

I've had the EBC, Powerstop, Duralast/vatozone rotors and they all only lasted one brake pad change due to warping or excessive wear. The EBC and Powerstop are probably great for track days but they don't hold up to daily driving, towing or hard wheeling.

I've loved the EBC Greenstuff pads but I'm kinda changing my tune on them now. It seems like you get halfway through the brake pad and they don't stop like they did when they're new. They also seen to be wearing pretty quick too. I'm going with OEM brake pads on my next change.
