That's Mr Asshole to you
I wouldn't worry about running any other coax or cat cable. Wireless takes care of most needs. Internet over power is an option for the future owner if they need to hardwire connect to the internet.

if you have the walls out already, I'd see about running cat 5e or cat 6. You should be able to find it reasonably cheap and it does add a lot of options. Little chance of interference and wired is WAY more secure than wireless.

Having the house wired for ethernet would be a benefit to me, but it wouldn't cause me to buy one house over another.

At least run cable to the entertainment system area. A cabled connection is always faster than a wireless connection.

Only reason hardwire might be nice would be if you wanted to hardwire a wifi expander to your existing network, that’s what I did for my shop. My house was hardwired for cat in a few select rooms and coax just about everywhere. Being a rancher it’s easy enough to install later though and I don’t think it adds much resale value.

Cool - thats what I was thinking/hoping you guys would say. Now maybe Ill just skip wiring them & save the cable & splitters for the next place.

Did that years ago. Whole place is set up with coax I ran back in the day to all the bedrooms/office/living room.

Just the kitchen & basement don't have "dedicated outlets"

How's the land search going?

I stopped looking in NY when NY started the legislation to criminalize wearing BR vests. I could of handled all their other BS 2A laws, but that one cuts deep if it passes.

After this weeks snow I def reconfirmed my love for the cold so still leaning North. Sucks because rural NY has very good camping, quad, side x side & snowmobile resources. They do a really good job of the trails and laws surrounding driving quads & side x sides on paved roads.

So where are you going to shift your focus too?

No where especially. Just taking one day at a time.

If I can find a good job in a cold climate within 2hrs of ski mountains Ill let work dictate the move.

If I can't find a good job Ill start looking for land within that criteria because Ill be going crazy living with my mom.

I can tell you I will not be living in any major city and I do not mind an hr drive each way to work, but would prefer less.

Not that many states that my budget and requirements align. I want a minimum of 20 acres ~would prefer 100, waterfront, no neighbors, no right of ways, non-incorporated "town" so I can do & build what I want when I want, land must have some elevation, and would prefer raw forest. All for less than six figures. lol

Oh and the land MUST be clean. I plan on living off it so I do not want some superfund site or be downriver from one. Already did that for 18 years and it's not fun.

My sister and BIL just bought a place up in NH, I'm going to use their place as an excuse to
a) get out of my house and go up and visit them
b) scope out real estate outside of NJ to prepare for my eventual parachute out from this shit state

Is NH a great state to move to? o_O I'm thinking gun laws and taxes.

Their state motto is "Live Free or Die", As far as I know they have some of the best gun laws around up in new england. Not sure about the taxes, I'll have to ask my sister how much she's paying for real estate taxes up there. I know they moved to NH because the income taxes were cheaper than if they were to live in VT. Her husband got a job in VT, he will commute over the border there. They are right on the edge of NH between the two states, Lyme NH.

We visited NH a few years ago. I remember thinking it was a very nice area. Some decent off-road and hiking trails and some beautiful geography. I liked NH much better than what I've seen of NY, NJ, CT, or Mass.

Anyplace is better than NJ. One could argue we have the worst gun laws and taxes in the union.

Good location for outdoor activities thats for sure. Loks to be about an hr or so away from Killington and even closer to Pico. Of all the time Ive spent up North Ive never been on that border though. I always go up 95 to 87 then hit up 4 and 100 to Killington

NY is real nice "upstate". Got a ton of land outside NYC before you hit Canada.

I wish NY would split at the capitol. Keep all the stuff East of Albany to NYC and everything west of it we could call Upstate NY. All the farmers and rural people would be happy. and all the city slickers could pass whatever silly laws they want in their own little crazy state.

I guess thats why land is so cheap up there - no one wants to live in the country and be riddled with stupid NYC laws.

NYC controlling the state is one reason my Aunt left upstate NY. Not that she did a whole lot better going to West Virginia but at least she escaped.

Bought one of these on the zon to replace a CFL light in my garage. Looks pretty crazy so hopefully the light output is as high as the guy that designed the shape.

One of my highschool buddys is up there. He bought 3 years ago to get his family out of NYC. He still owns his duplex inthe city but got 35 acres about 2hrs outside NYC to move the family to. It's a nice spot. He's right in a valley above the flood plane right next to a river. I have enjoyed seeing his progress over the years. Was a commie, then turned libtard, and now is turning libertarian out in the country. Amazing how much your opinions on politics change when your lifestyle does. Also changed from gun & cop hater to 2A Patriot/Blue Line lover lol

He's a "it's not a crime unless you get caught" kind of guy so their laws don't bother him much upstate unless someone starts knocking on doors w/warrants. I'm not living in fear anymore so those days are long gone for me. I'm 100% legit

I spent a couple hrs online last night looking and Ive never seen more properties listed. There is a TON of stuff ont he market for the first time in 20+ years. Timber properties clear cut last year and are offering up their "small" sub 100 acre parcels that they got crap yeild out of for cheap. Just the properties I want. Ponds/swamps/evelation/boulders/streams = low prices
