I made a huge purchase on RockAuto today. Wish I had had 5% off coupon. Then I'd be able to afford to retire someday.

I've been using a K&N air filter and I'm probably going to go back to a paper one. Keeping it clean and oiled is annoying
I just went back to the OEM Toyota paper filter after using a K&N since I bought the truck new. Kept reading horror stories about them offroad since they aren't meant to filter out all the dirt from dusty trails apparently. For daily street driving they are fine.

I've read the same things about them. Going to be ditching the k&n on the f350 and going a different route as well. The filter media isn't fine enough and let's too many particles pass through.

If you go back to the stock Heavy duty air ram that was an option from Ford, they make 2" and 3" air filters for them. I would recommend going with the 3" deep filter. They both fit in the air box.

Ive been using Wix paper OE type filters ever since engine start ticking like crazy....

I get them in bulk to save $$$. Ships in quantities of 10. Even if I only use half of them - still cheaper than buying them single.

Much better to have a paper filter in the truck and a spare in toolbox than any kind of reusable filter IMHO. Filter gets wet by chance or filthy from dust - quick swap on the trail or anywhere. Reusable filters need cleaning and drying time.

I think it would be pertinent to let us know what you were using before the ticking.

You know, so we know what not to use.

Was going to install the roof rack on the 4runner tonight but apparently it's hard to find a 29/64 drill bit. Ace was out and Home Depot doesn't carry. I failed to plan ahead on this one.

Sure wish I had one of those Trail Toys CV axle swap kits right now. And a power washer because there is grease everywhere.
