What have you done to your ride lately?

I just finished my engine refresh today on the Bimmer. Under the hood I did:

CCV kit and associated hoses from Bimmerbum
Vacuum lines
DISA rebuild from German Auto Solutions
VANOS rebuild from German Auto Solutions
VANOS oil line (mine had developed a leak and was the main driver of this whole project)
Valve cover gasket & gromets
Intake manifold gasket
The two hard heater lines under the manifold
Coolant line from top of expansion tank to top of radiator
Spark plugs
Oil & filter change

Outside the hood:
Brake pads all around

In the coming days:
Coolant flush
Brake Fluid Flush
Diff oil
Fuel Filter

I was very relieved when it cranked right up with no alarming sounds!

On my wife's mustang the battery is in that location and it's sectioned off like that, but that looks like it has some vacuum lines or something covred in aluminum going to it in the picture above it.

BMW prob has a 'conditioned' space for the battery....wouldn't put it past them. Got some big terminals outside it

Removed an $800 mistake from my 4Runner today. The Rocky Mountain Rack / Sherpa Matterhorn rack is now getting parted out. The crappy sides are going to the recycle bin and the crossbars are going to get saved for other projects. My sammich maker commented at how light and flimsy the sides were when we were taking it apart. Now I am just waiting for Tuesday to pick up the Prinsu rack and then some sunshine to install it.

Sad. Personally the way I drive, Aluminum isn't my first choice. That's what caused my RTT to JUMP off the back of my truck while I was jamming down a canyon trail faster than I should have been going!!! lol

While the Prinsu is still aluminum they do a much better job of it. The Matterhorn was a poorly executed idea. I had reservations and made some changes but in the end the side pieces were still too weak to work properly.

Live and learn.

I believe that is where the secondary air pump is. It forces air through the exhaust on cold starts, although not nearly as loud as the one on our Tundra.
Looks like air injection pump. Hot air not good for them.
Yep

Back to Toyota related things, the awakening has begun. Today I did new valve cover gaskets and spark plugs. The engine should start to look more fun tomorrow.

@MatthewMay1

I'm working from home so if you get stuck feel free to hit me up for a pic or question. If you can get that deep into it then you have the worst of it done.

Definitely save those aluminum extrusions for another project! That stuff ain't cheap!!! I'm sure you'll find a great project to use it on in the future.

Oh yeah, I am already thinking of ways to make the most of them.
