Read about people tumbling their brass in rice and decided to give it a try. I will say I like it a lot better than the walnut shells I was using. No dust and the brass is clean and shiny.

Anything specific about the rice or just cheap?

Scale and powder trickler.
I size and trim the brass every time.
I am doing very little crimp when seating.
I meant how did you determine what that was how many grains of powder you needed? Do you know if you are in a node?

I wouldn’t crimp at all. Measure you neck after you size your case, then again after you seat a bullet into into. That difference is your neck tension. You want that somewhere around .002-.003

Getting some magnums ready for the range. 264 winmag for me and 257 Weatherby for @balakay
Sunday is supposed to be 70 degrees so perfect for the range.

When I was at the range yesterday I talked to a guy that was shooting a 6 PPC. Its a .220 Russian case that is fire formed to produce a 40 degree shoulder on the case. Slinging 6mm, 68 grain pills at 3000-3200 FPS.

If I wanted a little more of a barrel burner I would get a 6 Dasher. That’s what a lot of PRS guys shoot. 105gr at right around 3k but you are sub 2k barrel life

6BR is a litte closer to 3k

It was rather entertaining to watch him do it. He was reloading on the bench behind the shooting table. Had a 4 foot long cleaning rod, a rod guide that fit in place of the bolt, crazy rest that had several dials to move the gun to just the right position and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I have a buddy in Mingus that loves his 6Dashers. He tears up the X ring and coyotes with them all the time. But he has different builds - one for the bench, one for walking, and one for tripod work over the fields.

I cannot wait till I can blow that kind of money.

No pic? Sheesh. Those super adjustable stands with the full length rails on the rifle are freaking sweeeeet. I have a rail on my short list for my 300WM build right now. I would not be surprised to see a 6.x build in my rifle rack soon though. I want to build up something that my sammich maker will enjoy shooting too.

It was a SEB NEO rest. They're north of $700.

I’d do a 6mm variant. Light recoil and accurate af. Stay around 2800fps with a 105-107gr bullet and barrel life will be good

But is barrel life really a worry in that game?
For top end competition shooters no, but me and you I’d say say yes. Hot Rodding those 6mm bullets closer to 3k doesn’t buck the wind much better. Think it was like .1mil at 1k. I’d rather get 30% better barrel life than chase speed for not much gain
